The Acoustic Club

does anyone here have an extention cabinet running from their B100 combo, any good results? I am looking at the 4x10 for mine.

From Acoustic's site::

The series extension speaker jack provides an
output for an additional cabinet such as the
Acoustic B115 or B410.

Power: 100 watts @ 4 Ohms

Options for the B100 Combo:
  • B115 1x15 bass cabinet 8 Ohm
  • B410 4x10 bass cabinet 8 Ohm

I went down to a music store today and finally got to try my 140 out with a bunch of cabs, I was there for a long time and had a ton of fun trying everything out. The amp's tone was awesome, exactly how I like my bass to sound, thick middy tone with just enough bass and gentle highs (even with the brightness on). Some cabs just didn't mix well with my amp or something since they sounded really odd and were farting out. The store I went to was a smaller one because the main store was closed, so there weren't as many cabs to try, but it was still awesome. My three fave cabs were a Traynor 8x10", an Ampeg 8x10" and an Ampeg 1x15", all of which sounded great. I also tried two Mesa Powerhouse cabs (2x12" and a 4x10") which sounded good but were farting out for some reason. Then I also tried a GK 1x15" which was really iffy and was also farting out for some reason. The worst cab was a GK 8x10" which hummed and was really gritty sounding, but I later saw that it looked like one of the speaker cones was damaged.
The coolest part was that I also tried out an Ampeg SVT-3 Pro and my 140 was just as loud as the SVT-3 Pro through the same cab even though it's power rating is much lower (125W vs 450W). I've read that the old Acoustics were underrated for power, but this was a really cool surprise!

just wanted to fill you all in on the blown b410 deal.... guitar center covered warranty on it.... that is really impressive as i bought it from musicians friend... couldnt afford or wanna deal with the pain in arse of shipping it back so guitar center exchanged it for me.....
kudos to wichita ks guitar center ;-)

Hey The Owl...You missed a great TB GTG at Atlanta Bass Gallery, last night. I was hoping to meet you. I brought my GC B200 combo. Maybe we can have a GTG for Acoustic users. Jim Rubio, the proprietor of AGB has a 361, but we didn't ask to bring it out. Jim was gracious enough to give us ..all 10 of us.. access to his entire stock of basses and amps.

Owl...I even put a notice earlier in the month on the "unoffical acoustic" site, hoping that you and a few others from Atlanta or surrounding areas would see it. If you hadn't put a link on the "unofficial a/c "site to this TB site some time back, I would have never joined Talkbass.com. I am not on-line often, as we only have ssssllloowww dial-up, which is frustrating; takes an hour to view a 5 min utube video. I still love my AC 370 head as well as my GC AC B200 combo. As much as I would love to own a 301 and a 408, I am always looking for a small combo that can handle a low B. I tried out the GC AC B20 and B100. I was very disappointed with both. ABG has excellent combos, but at over $1,000...I'll be more than satisfied with the B200; can't be beat for the price and tone at that price. Best wishes to all and hopes for an ATL Acoustic GTG. I would prefer the fall, as we are locked into the 90's every day.
