The Combo Club

I found it helped me to play 5 frets up and use that position as my E string. That way, all my notes are as if on a short scale (which I have 4 of) with an extra high C string. Then when I need lower notes, I can just slide down to where it lurks.

May only be my odd brain that makes it work. Still thought I'd share in the hopes another get use of my idea.

Only full scale is just half the prereq for our live practice group. Only four string is the other prereq. And at the halfway mark of the 10 week course, totally understand why.

Every confidence I can learn a 5 string, or even 6 string. Right now a Rocket Bass 115 is far more interesting to me than a 5 string :woot:

Follow your bliss!

Use the E-string as your standard thumb-resting point and you'll do just fine (The side of your thumb will block the unwanted noises of the B-string as a surplus) After all these decades on my fiver, I often mix up the A and E string on my new acquainted 4 string

My friend got me doing that. Once it sunk in, I could devote ALL my brain power figuring out what to play from a chord chart. It turns out that if you don't use your music theory for a decade, you forget it. I have a lot to re-learn.

I've been enjoying finding out some of the patterns there are on the fretboard. Now I have another one to play with, next time I get hold of my friend's Yamaha. Thanks!

Maybe the best holiday pic so far. Nicely done, Tele! I love your guitar’s sea foam green.

I think we should steal his idea and have a holiday gear photo contest. What do ya think? You can post whatever you want and as many as you want. I’ll contribute something this weekend. Let’s see some creativity, CC!

Holiday gear photo 1. Gear from previous holidays, not this holiday season.

Education is where my hard-earned space bucks go in 22. Wrote "21" and corrected it to "22". This habit will dog me on my ransom notes until February. :roflmao:

Nah, '22 is gonna be a piece of cake. Ya just have to build it up to being one of the biggest years of your adult life and you'll have it memorized by 1.2.22! At least thats' what I'm doing.

30 days and counting...

Yet another beautiful addition. And as 'Dog labeled his pic, Holiday gear photo 1, you may and are encouraged to post as many holiday gear pics as you wish. We'll deck the halls with lots of cool shots of what we all worked hard to purchase over the years. And yes if you're asking, six-stringers are allowed too!

Hey everyone, been meaning to stop by and show off my little orange crush! Only been playing for a couple months, but My gear is all coming along.View attachment 4493116View attachment 4493118

KTS, great to see you found your way to the Combo Club, welcome, my friend. And I do say that literally, everyone, because Kai earlier this week drove to Ioway via NW Indiana to purchase my Jazzer, seen here in his pics, and it looks like it’s found a great home too!

Of course, I asked the young bassist if he rocked a combo and after getting an affirmative I asked him to post a pic so I could hand out a membership # and here he is!

Kai, I’ll get you a number in the morning after I lock myself into Command Central, be looking for it. Great pics, BTW. :hyper:

Brinkink whomsoever you vish! Iss bi-i-ig tables, lotsa foods. No fancy china, just paper plates.
.

Yes!!! I’ll do the dishes!! :woot:

So we are getting decorations up etc etc. my “Music Corner” needs to be mucked out. I’m happy to do this! The Ampeg RB-115 had to find a new home for the holidays-

Great place! Cover and all.

Then a day or two later, SWMBO looks over and says, “when did THAT “speaker” arrive???”
I quickly said “early last summer- you liked it!”

“Hmmph”…
