I don’t subscribe to the idea of tonewood on an electric instrument. But mojo is real. And I’m pretty sure you need both the body and the pup to rock the T Bird mojo. In fact I’m questioning if a short scale version would actually work now.

If they reissue them I’ll buy one and let you know lol

Sounds like you may want to check out Cataldo Basses. He is capturing some serious Mojo, even with non-Thunderbird shapes!

No they did. That’s at Sweetwater. They are all over as sold but they are real. Musiciansfriend had them. They were limited release in 2011. @Morrighan saidbshe almost got one

Was pretty busy since Friday so am catching up. Saturday, drove back home(140 miles)from Orlando to load gigmobile and head back north to Ft. Pierce(~30 miles)for American Legion gig. Sunday morning gig(south ~13 miles)-9 'til noon-then back to house for 'afternoon delight'[nap] then south(~75 miles)to Lake Worth for Finnish Independence Day dinner/dance. That's 3 gigs in 24 hours after nothing except concert band rehearsals since 11/13. Tired-ish fingers from playing; tired back from schlepping.

Non-extraordinary combo news

well, there's not any actual news here. Nothing like a new combo for Zappadan*. A new combo is just a little distant for me right now because
I'm in the woodshed with our live practice group. It's taken (counts fingers) four days to begin to grok what we were shown Saturday. And something clicked today as I saw something in a Bach piece I sort-of-but-don't know. Hanging out at 80 bpm, me and

My hard-earned spacebucks just went to a new practice group, and (talk about burying the lede) asked today if I will consider coaching the 2022 Music Theory for the Bass Player cohort. Find a store that has them and hold them. You will know which one is yours. It will speak to you. (It whispers in your ear) with the EPI you may find it feels just right and save a boatload of money. Then later if you want to upgrade it you can always swap out pickups and bridges and pots and tuners to bring it up to a Gibson standard. However. You may find it’s just right the way it is.
I bought a Gretsch JR Jet short scale bass that I love every time I pick it up. It cost me $300! It’s an awesome bass. I swapped out the bridge for a high mass bridge and put some labella deep talkin flats on it but other than that it doesn’t need a thing. The tuners are great. I like them better than the tuners on my American Mustang. The pick ups are good. I may swap them out someday but I keep asking myself why. I have the money to do that. But so far it’s like why. I had intended to do that but there’s no need to. So why…
So if you don’t have the budget don’t be afraid to go for the cheaper version. But most importantly hold her and you will know if she’s the one. (She will whisper to you- pick me, pick me!)

Some Combo-related content. I love my PJB D4, and have been very interested in checking out the new X4 once it becomes available stateside in 2022 (from what I've heard).

Here's a little video which seems to indicate that the X4 is about half as loud as the D4.
