Revered combo club members I need your input on a tiny combo dilemma.
I would like an amp that keeps up with a piano and sometimes sax, for living room practice and motorcycle or public transport portability.

I can get any of these used, for the exact same price (200-220€), which would you elect, for a precision and sometimes fretless 4 string player?

- Markbass Micromark 801
- GK MB110
- Ibanez promethean p3110

I asked some here to tell me about their PJB Double Four. I want one. Size of a shoebox So it would fit well on a bike I would think.

Well, gas has gotten the best of me again and I just had the family order a combo I always wanted, but it wasn't available at the time I had to have a rig for a gig that same night so I settle for the next one down, I am talking about Peavey max series Max115 300w with 1 15" and 1 tweeter. I ended up with the 200w 112 instead, fast forward to I have found one in excellent condition and a sweet price, I will demo it after Xmas

I reluctantly sold my GK MB212-II because of back surgery. New GK Fusion 112 is on the way.
Any good inputs about Fusion 112 while I wait?

I think all T birds are killer. The bass the car. The fake gang. If I could find one in short scale I’d dye my beard and hair black get a skeleton suit and be a mini John Entwhistle.

Would that I bought a short scale Thunderbird on the TB classifieds some good while ago ... just wasn't possible at the time. I love Thunderbird pickups.

Tried a white Epiphone Thunderbird at a brick & mortar, and found it much more playable than I expected. But I was seated.

In all seriousness I didn’t think they existed except as a custom job. If ever do one you can bet it will be a short scale T bird. Might take me a bit to choose a finish.

PJB Double Four

As an owner, I would caution that it may not be able to keep up with a sax and piano if both are being played at any "spirited level".

But it is a fantastic little amp, and I have been trying for many moons now to get Phil make the Quad Four a reality! And sell the Nano here!

No they did. That’s at Sweetwater. They are all over as sold but they are real. Musiciansfriend had them. They were limited release in 2011. @Morrighan saidbshe almost got one

Oops, sorry I didn't see your question about the Double Four. I've had one for about a year now (maybe?) and I love the little critter. You already know it's tiny and light, so I'll not talk about that.

Plusses:
Amazingly balanced and faithful reproduction of the sound of each individual bass. It works well as a clean guitar amp too. I've run my Carvin Bolt through it and it sounds very jazzy and clean.

Surprisingly loud. I have not been able to test it, but I think it will hold up with an unamplified acoustic guitar. I do want to test that out, but...

Battery capable. I have a laptop battery that plugs into it and has been working great.

Minuses:
Just a bit too quiet. I'd really like to see what a twice as powerful Quad Four would be like.

I don’t subscribe to the idea of tonewood on an electric instrument. But mojo is real. And I’m pretty sure you need both the body and the pup to rock the T Bird mojo. In fact I’m questioning if a short scale version would actually work now.
