I goofed and posted this on the show your bass thread by accident. so lemme swap this over.
Ok, had some time to spend with the Peavey. First impression, HELL YES. For comparison sake I'll reference my last combo the Trace Elliot Elf 110 Combo. I took all 17lbs of the Elf around hotels and barracks rooms for a few months and the light weight, tiny footprint and ample power worked perfectly. I sold it when I got home and recouped some of the $600 buy in on it. It currently holds down bar gig duties for a fellow TBer.
This time around I won't be traveling per say but more so living at work. I'll spend about 18-20hrs a day at my office and needed a little something to keep there. I immediately thought about the Elf again. But, as much as the form factor was great the price tag is still pretty hefty. I've had ampeg, TC, and two other peavey combos in the past. Trace is owned by Peavey as well and I've watched some videos with peavey big heads and others that pretty much say they're using the same parts in both brands. The Max 110 rings up at $300 and probably has the same speaker, has the same DI (as stated by Peavey big heads), and most of the same components, likely made same factory.
The larger cab has two ports, you can see them in the picture, the speaker is angled up and most reviews are from church players who DI to FOH and use this as a stage monitor. It's loud, clear, doesn't seem to be colored with EQ flat and none of the button engaged (keep in mind I've been playing 2 very colored tube heads for the past few months so take that for what it is).
Now let's talk buttons! We'll I'll let the manual handle that.

Now that you've read that I will add that they all work tastefully. Nothing engages and just makes your tone sound like immediate garbage. I am super impressed with the over drive. Crank the gain and volume and you've got tons of volume, punchy lowend, and headroom. The kosmos C is the same it has always been, a kind of sub Harmonic generator that tricks your ears until hearing more low end. It's not new technology and it works great. The tuner is quick and responsive but I don't like that it mutes, an always on option would he much preferred. Bright is BRIGHT, that with the mid scoop contour is slap city. Mid shift let's you pick between low mids and high mids. I plugged in a cleap single button foot switch and it only mutes on and off. Manual says the proper foot switch should mute and control over drive on off.
The AUX and headphones was a surprise and very welcomes. The speaker out has me curious too. If they offered a matching 110 extension cab I would definitely consider purchasing one. I think the RMS for this is 60watts by itself. Over all I'm happy with the combo. Bass the World did a video on these and Gregor helped sell it for me as well when he discussed how easy it is to mic up for recording (confirmed by my observation of how uncolored it is). I traded in a bergantino 210 cab that had been collecting dust and got %15 off on this and a Gator TSA case for one of my basses. The combo with the discount came out at $255. For that price, even at $300, you're getting a great combo and possibly one of the only Peavey products on the market that carries their past reputation for durability, reliability, and performance at affordable prices.
