Yes!!!! It’s pretty scary, and (thankfully) the threshold is pretty high/narrow to consider the use of this one. But it CAN help..

I lucked out and only needed to spend less than a buck on mounting hardware, and installing or pulling the head only takes a minute or so. Pretty much perfect for "grab and go."

A question for the Combo club folks. I'm in a band where we play small venues - rarely more than 100 people. The singers and guitars use a sound system with passive JBL speakers and a 250 watt Mackie amp/equalizer. I run my bass through a Gallien-Krüger MB212-II Neo. Now the band leader says he wants me to run my bass through the sound system so it goes out through two speakers vs. my single case. I have told him 1: I don't think the bass makes any difference going out of a single cabinet vs. two cabinets. 2: Since the bass requires more power than the guitars and voices, it doesn't make sense to run the bass through the sound system and have it suck up lots of watts to be heard. Especially when my combo has 500 watts and the entire sound system has 250 watts for the main speakers. 3: I like my combo which allows me the freedom to set my tone the way I want.
Am I being pig-headed over this or should I run my bass through the sound system?

A reasonable approach is to try it IN GOOD FAITH before declaring it unacceptable. His reasoning and yours are both flawed so I ask you, is a fight worth it?
FWIW, we play mostly small(ish)venues for a 55+y/o crowd. Only vocals in the PA. Does the GK have a line out? That's one way to keep both of you 'happy'.
This! ^^^ Use both. You get to set your tone for your amp/monitor for your ears. And he gets to set it for the PA without having to use a lot of PA power for it. But be aware that his (assumed elevated) speakers will probably have more dispersion than your (assumed floor level) amp. Depending on many other factors, you may only hear your amp and he may hear mostly his PA.
PS: I like your reasoning that you should set your own tone. But of course, the PA may change it. Heck, nobody tells guitarists to "just run direct" and let others set their tone! Why should bassists not get the same respect?

I gotta start showing up here during the week or in the daytime...there's no one here. Regardless, I'm popping in to say hello, wish you all a happy spring break, and see what's up in the world of combos. I finished up a long week with report cards and parent conferences but am rewarded with the week off before the final push to June. I will promise to try and actually be part of a conversation here this week.
Not much to report. I'm currently rocking my Markbass combo though it's not getting too much action because I haven't played much bass. With any luck, I'll get it going this week with a few recordings we're hoping to do. Did one yesterday but I played only the Cajon on it.
My retirement bass search continues as I'm down to about nine weeks left. I held a Fender American Precision Professional II at my GC on Friday and I think it scared me off Fenders forever. My MIM neck, while smooth as butta, also has the worst fret ends as I've mentioned before. You can grate cabbage with those babies. Well, guess what? So did the $1750 P-bass. The kid who got it down blamed the dry store and the fact it's been up on the wall for a while. Don't disagree, but if I want a grater I'll spend half as much and get the same outcome. Not for nearly two grand, I'm sorry. The 1963C neck was more than playable, but the blood spewing from my dry hands was more than I could bear. you've been warned!
The Hofner 500/1 is still on the list, but I've turned back to the Epi Jack Casady bass as well. Reasonably priced, great tone from what I can tell, and kind of a cool backstory is keeping me interested. Still not in a hurry as the basses I'm looking at are all on backorder. The purchase will most likely come this summer and I'm in no hurry.
That's it for now. I will try and get on this week, but I just wanted you all to know I haven't forgotten the CC. I wish Miles would offer the free Ampeg B-15 "combo" as a sweepstakes prize to increase traffic. It is still a combo, right? I keep forgetting what I had proclaimed many moons ago. Oh well, I'm sure it'll come up in conversation again.

Got to see one up close in the hands of its namesake at a Hot Tuna gig in Burlington, Vermont 2009 the Higher Ground Ballroom. We got there early, got a drink, and grabbed a couple of seats up front. Great show- Jack played the gold Epiphone JC through Aguilar kit- Tonehammer into a 12”? …I remember it was early December and quite…breathtakingly cold

In two weeks we're having a worship team night, to all get together to practice some music, and I'll be bringing my bass. Time to see how the little Orange 25 holds up. Probably better than I will, but I'll give it a shot anyway!

Haven't touched my percussion gear in a while. I have played bass a little, but not nearly enough. I tried sending my pedalboard output into the amp's line in, but I have to crank the preamp pedal's output to get much volume, and it's noisy. The tone was excellent, though.
There was a while that Gibson guitars all had horrible fret ends, but Epis tended to be stone perfect. Fender playing catch-up? Sad.
Done deal. Now offering a free Ampeg B-15 combo to anyone adding at least 100 posts with actual combo content in the nine minutes after I get Iago's credit card info to charge it to!
