Oh, here's a store pic, I can't stand the wait. The store's owner emailed today to let me know they're closed on Sunday but after a setup, it'd be out for shipment tomorrow. I figured probably the first of June sometime. Seemed like a nice guy. I asked if he knew what flats Hofner was putting on the Pro and he replied he didn't know. I read somewhere it's Hofner brand strings. I'll give 'em a shot and then put LaBellas on later. Have you tried their flats, Doc? Regardless, I'm stoked because I came to the conclusion this weekend my days with a full-scale bass are over. I'd rather play a shorty and, to me, sound better playing one.

Very cool. I have heard some of these models are great and some not so much. The two Ignitions I have are both great out of the box. Hopefully you're is the same! Can't wait to hear about it!

Iagtrplr, is that fancy, oversized violin (or is it a viola?) one of them there new fangled electric instruments I heard about? I hope you got a good price as it looks like they made it bass-ackwards...who would play and instrument left handed?????;)

Danke, sir! It's not as much whether it'll be good or not, but more it WILL be good because I'll do whatever I have to do to it to make it that way. My Rogue by many would probably be considered "meh" at best, but I like the challenge of having to finesse it on each song. It rarely helps me along, like when playing the F on the E-string, but I love it just the same. Now if you're talking physical abnormalities, I get ya and I'll do a serious inspection of their setup prior to playing, but again, that's the fun challenge with this hobby.

I'll definitely let everyone know if it passes the Iago acid test!

Besides you and me, PT, I have no idea. Macca, perhaps? You got it though, it's one of those E-lectric geetars that you plug into an amp and play beautiful music with...beautiful music being highly subjective. And it only weighs 5 lbs to boot. The last time I loved something that small I had to feed and diaper it every few hours! :woot:

Very quickly I changed the Hofner strings for La Bella violin flats. Although the tension was a little less, I wanted a softer feel. After researching, I put on Thomastik Infeld flats. These were bliss.
Some months later, my La Bella White Tape wound strings arrived. Now they're on, they're staying on. If or when they wear out, another set of the same are going on. The tone and feel... Adequate (absolutely nothing lacking)

I had a set of La Bella white tapes once too and I liked them a lot. As I recall they had a little growl to them.

Uncertain if it's possible for tapes to go dead. Maybe, if the nylon wears through from a pick or Godzilla grip. Tried both DaD and La Bella black tapes, and prefer the D'Addario. The full scale La Bella tapes don't fit my through-body StingRay, which means I need another full scale bass (like a hole in the head) for La Bella special edition tapewounds.

I like the blacks, and even had a set on My Ray before it got the EB Group IV flats it wears now. It's a total Bernard Edwards machine now. The flats are at the five month mark and are settling beautifully.

Here are the D'Addario tapes on my Chowny CHB-1 short scale semi-hollowbody. It wears Low Tension Flats now.
