Chupa, for how little it costs, the improvement over the original speaker has made a bigger difference to my ears than anything I’ve bought in the past year. Do it, Man!

While I may have just popped by the Combo Club laundromat this afternoon and the Combo Club lemonade stand this evening ... with a good two lemonades in me sit here wondering who I could ever convince to mike my BA-109v2+
The + seems as good a description as any. Or soon-to-be BA108v2+
And considering there really are situations that don't require massive whomppage, eager to break in the speaker myself. If I were to assign slippery adjectives to the three (I might) PJB BG-400 "articulate" Elf + PJB Cab 27 "forward and present" BA108v2 "smooth"

Hey, I remember you bringing that key to the club over the summer. Said you found it at the gas station and thought it’d add flair to our restroom. You showed me the brown stuff and mentioned you were gonna disinfect it. So did you or did you not?
Don’t answer that. Gotta admit though, the wait staff at the Four-String Restaurant loved stirring the Soup de Jour with it!

I normally play a GK MB150E combo. It's a 150 W, 1x12. Metal case, very compact, but surprisingly heavy. I almost never get to play with anyone else, but this little beast has kept up with acoustic drummers on a couple of occasions and it has a line out that I can use to power another cabinet if I really need to.

Oh my gosh, yes you do! As soon as I remember the code to Command Central (have to keep the riff raff our), I’ll ring you up a new number and make the presentation.
That particular combo is an enigma to me. It’s not overly powerful, loaded with features, and particularly modern, plus throw in it’s downright expensive, but it’s loved by almost every person who’s played through it! I myself have never gotten that fortune, but as someone who's own multiple GK combos, I’d love to play some music through it.

iagtrplyr, when I bought the amp, I wanted something very small and portable. It was the smallest amp at the time with over 80 W. I was lucky enough to have the money and passion to purchase it. I like it because it's versatile, but I've never really gotten a 'warm' sound out of it. Probably my issue, not the amp's.
If you ever get near K'zoo, I'll be happy to let you test it out!
Side note: given your handle, do you play guitar as well as bass? Or is it in reference to the tendency for most folks to call all strapped-on stringed instruments a "guitar?" I ask, because I also have a guitar amp combo!

New Combo Day! Earlier this autumn, my beloved Rumble 40 fell ill, and alas, did not make it through. I took it to my local dealer, who ordered a replacement. Unfortunately, the store chain my dealer was part of went into liquidation a few weeks ago, leaving me in limbo. The chain was aquired by a group of investors, and are now up and running again, but it'll be some time before new stock comes in, not to mention the fact that they will no longer be carrying Fender amps. My dealer apologized profusely, but said there was little he could do except offer me a good deal on something else. Having been without a practice amp for a while, and feeling the loss keenly, I took his offer on a Blackstar Unity 60 floor model. I wound up paying less than I would have paid for a Rumble 40 online, so I got a pretty good deal. I haven't put it through its paces yet, but it looks promising.

Cool, Jakey! Looking forward to your review of of the new 'Star, especially in comparison to the Rumble. IIRC no less a Fender fan than @Linnin was interested in the new Unity amps, too!

It does look nice, and build quality seems good. Incidentally, it's almost exactly the same size as my old Rumble 40, and although it's a little heavier, I do get 20 extra watts into the bargain. While I'm going to use it mainly as a practice amp, the extra wattage might increase its usefulness.

As for the warmth of your combo, it may be just as much the GK DNA as it is your taste. You could always try a pedal for additional warmth, though you may end up changing what you enjoy so much about it.
Yep, I first picked up an electric guitar around 2000 AD when my middle-age crisis began. It ended a decade later, but that's another story. I really enjoyed my limited, yet spirited playing until I turned to the bass guitar and found my inner being in those four thick strings. I used to be iabssplyr in a previous life, but settled for my original moniker, iagtrplyr, as a reminder to myself my roots. Bass is who I am though and I wouldn't trade it for anything! Thanks for asking.
