Seems to me at the time of purchase the Rumble 25 and BA108 were the top contenders. Even had a moment of "am I sure?" when I went with the Ampeg. The Rumble is a bit lighter and that's definitely in its favour. A nod to usability to the BA108 with a separate volume control for Aux In. Turns out that's an important feature for me. There's no telling what the source volume of any peripheral may be when I plug in.

About 20 years ago, one of the major manufacturers experimented with putting the equivalent of a cockpit voice recorder in some pickup trucks to constantly record the last 30 seconds b4 a crash. They gave it up after realizing the last words were often "Hold my beer and watch this".

M, you’re on fire right now. You might end up actually lightening the Ampeg up with that piece of ICE. Listen to it first with the new speaker and then decide if you want the powerhouse or not.

So I understand it, you also have the Bassman 250 115 as well? How much that one weigh? It’d also be a good candidate for church gigs.

Doc, you rock whatever you darn well please. If those are your fave brands then make it happen. You can always add or delete as you go. To me, that Traynor cab is crying out for a really nice head or possibly a combo with an ext output.

Yeah, Vox head seems to be working so far. If it is loud enough I may sell some other gear and buy a Mini Superbeatle. That way I could use the small cab at home and the big cab for practice. It depends a bit on your review, but I did check out the Premier Guitar review which was quite good.

True! Even the diminutive Amplug has a separate volume control for aux in. It's simply important.

And a solid by-the-numbers review you will get...during Thanksgiving vacation! I haven’t even turned the bugger on yet, which could be a mistake, I know. I may do that this weekend, but right now the science team has the throttle on full. Our hope is we get everything done so that the crew can have the entire vacation dedicated to food, fun, and frolic (plus naps and music).

I think it’ll depend on just how much volume you’re gonna need, Doc. I think she’ll do small to normal-sized rooms, but I’m thinking there may have to be a mic in front of the speaker, maybe even for all times. I want to hear the NuTube, darn it. The hooking up the two Voxys intrigues me too.

Best news of the day: my little trio is okaying at our final day of school Christmas assembly. No canned music this year folks, it’s LIVE! Time to get the Rogue out and begin working on the Yuletide classics. Hmm...which amp for that day???

Have ye played an Ampeg rig? Some like 'em, others not as much. What sort situation do you see yourself with the BA210? Strangely there's no Ampeg cab that matches the BA line, cosmetically.

Yes, I really liked it. Could get a few tones I liked. Might be different at home or practice. Most everything sounds great at the store. Haha
And I’ve read the pf210 is a great pair. But I was just looking for options.

C7, how are ya? First, smart move asking your combo buddies for assistance. There's always someone who knows something. In this case, it is me. Had two 210s for a matter of a few months before trading in on the SVT micro rig. I loved the tone and felt that it was one of the best large combos I'd played through. The punch of Mike Tyson with tons of volume. I too had wondered what to run as an extension speaker and decided the PF210 HE was probably the best bet. I currently have that in the stable and still agree it'd be a worthy addition if you go the way of the combo.

In case you're wondering what happened to the 210s and me, I bought early models and there was a vibration bug running through them. Sounded like a blown driver but I think they figured out it was poorly-built cabinets. I lost patience after the second one and picked up the micro rig. Not taking away from the sound though...very nice. Now that they're into updated models I wouldn't hesitate trying one out again. Admittedly, it's a chunk with a hard-to-schlep cabinet style and only the one strap handle, but if you don't need to haul it all over the world I think it'd be a great rehearsal/medium-gigging amp. Run it with the 210 cab and you'd have enough bottom end to satisfy most rock bands.
