Page 3? Absolutely not! I've been doing a little lurking around spreading my holiday cheer to all those in need of combo amp advice. I'm enjoying my first day of winter break (not counting the weekend which was spent wrapping up shopping, cleaning the castle, washing the vehicles, etc) and with nearly 50 F temps, it is heavenly. We're gonna have a Cali Christmas this year with warm weather and no snow. Sorry Iowan winter lovers, not this season. This reminds me that Giffro and our other Australian club members aren't as fortunate, and our thoughts are definitely with you.

Still trying to get a couple of songs from one of my co-teachers from last Friday's holiday assembly, where I believe we played six songs, but here's a Facebook link that has one of our tunes in progress, Santa Claus is Coming to Town. I used my Beatle bass through the Fender Rumble 100 for monitoring and DI'd to FOH. Not the best recording, but you can hear the big bass tone that I've really come to like, especially with small groups. It fills up a lot of space.

In other business, I'm putting a call out for any and all new toys, gadgets, instruments, and especially combo amplifiers received by club members (and wannabes) alike for before and after Christmas. Sweeten everyone's palates this next week by posting pics and details of your soon-to-be latest acquisition. Me? I'm flying below the radar this week because 1) I really don't need anything after purchasing the Superbeetle rig, and 2) I thought I'd wait and see what after-holiday deals show up in my inbox. I may just see what comes my way, but I definitely am not looking to add to the stable. 2020 promises to be interesting though as I enter the diamond 60th year of life. I may even, I can't believe I'm even writing this, SAVE for something nice for June. Ah, don't bet on it...

Let's hear from ya'll. Merry Christmas!

Well done Mike the bass playing teacher...my youngest son is also a bass playing, trumpet playing teacher loll

Happy Holidays all!

Found a good deal on a Markbass Little Mark Tube 800 (been watching for sometime now). After double checking everything I picked up a metric tap for the mounting frame and went about converting. It was a bonus that the hole were already in the frame and just needed to be tapped for threads.

So this:

Can't wait to crank it up!!! Maybe the only Little Mark Tube 800 Combo?

Who say Giff didn’t know how to but appropriate gifts for people? Of course, I’m still recovering from injuries caused by the world-wide banned chemistry set he got me in 2018, but don’t worry, ten fingers are much overrated.

Be careful, Charly!!!

Merry Christmas to everyone in the other side of the planet!

Tubes... I love it. Must sound dreamy.

I think the biggest difference the tube makes here is it allows you to clip the input without it sounding nasty. Gives a bit of tube compression. Where as the SS side has ugly clipping. I like the control layout a little better and it is a bit more powerful. Tested the amp with the cab and liked it but the tube breakup is what made me decide to switch.

I had a Ampeg V4B in the early 70's and it made even my EB0 sing when otherwise it just boomed. Was a huge improvement!
