Merry Christmas, b, and to all those who’ve been chiming in today. We here at Command Central are worn out from the family festivities last night. Today is grazing when you’re hungry, occasional naps, a good movie, and maybe even a little musical endeavor or two. No heavy brainwork except to wish everyone else the same!

Thank you, iagtryplyr! My combo is the B100C. I just got it from GC last week. Back in the 90s I used an Acoustic 450 head with my Hartke 410TP, and really liked the sound. So when I was looking for, and researching combos over the last couple of months, I was looking at the B100 and B200 due to their extension speaker outputs, which I was thinking of trying with my Hartke cab, but those want a 4Ω load, if I remember correctly. So I finally settled on the B100C. I'm very pleased with it thus far. I especially like the Gain and Overdrive. My old 450 didn't have these.

Merry Christmas to you, as well! I was very, very close to going with the Ampeg BA115v2, but finally decided to go for the Acoustic combo which I got for $200 less. And it is a little smaller and lighter. I read a few reviews which claimed the Ampeg combos were "muddier" than the Acoustics, and just didn't have the same "presence". I found such reviews a little difficult to believe. Do you own an Ampeg combo? If so, what are your thoughts about it?

I like my Acoustic way more than the Ampeg combos, it’s been a clearer and deeper bass sound for me. The Ampegs for me got a bit to dark or muddy, but only this last round of Acoustics, I got the B100C and it works great for me

I used to own the bigger brother to the 115, the 210 v2. I would guess the tens are a little less dark than the fifteen. I liked it’s tone very much but had some repeated gremlins that soured me. I do own, as my buddy Morrighan does, a BA-108 v2 with modified Eminence Alpha 8A speaker.

I’ll let her speak for herself, but I love what the speaker did to an already fine combo. Stick a mic next to it as a monitor in a group of reasonably responsible musicians and it’s a winner.

BTW, she loves it too!

Hello Redstrand! Yes, that is exactly what I had been reading; that they could get dark or muddy. Do you play with a band, if so, do you find the B100C loud enough to keep up with a drummer? I like 70s and 80s metal and hard rock the best, and that is my only concern for that style of music. I guess if I get to playing out a lot more, I'll have to consider something with more firepower.

I had the B50C last year at this time and thought it was decent overall. I felt note definition lacked somewhat but couldn’t complain about output and features. Price was outstanding too.

My true sweetie is my Rumble 100. Along with my Beatle bass, it gives me exactly what I’m looking for with that combination. Now my Fender Jazz likes the Acoustic and loves Ampeg.

Yes, I think you are spot on about the sound of the 10s vs the 15s. That was another thing that lured me to my Acoustic; the 12" speaker.

Yes, the BA108v2 Plus (plus the Eminence) makes for a pleasing little combo that can easily pick up duty with "reasonably responsible musicians". <- I like this phrase
Plus, it's a great little low-cost project with high returns.

Ok...my darling wife is making a roast dinner on Boxing Day cause we had sandwiches for Christmas dinner...WHY you ask loll..well because we slept through most of the day lolll Was a quiet Christmas day with no visitors for a change so we had a bottle of bubbly and sandwiches and promptly dropped off for Christmas day and woke up early Thursday morning lol...how exciting loll
Not to be outdone Mrs Giffro is cooking like a madwoman for dinner now woohhooo..I hope its a nice leg of errr..dunno if shes done beef or lamb...surprise me. Reminds me I better get the extra bottle of bubbly ready. Have a great Boxing Day all my overseas friends..we are now watching the Cricket Test between Aust and NZ, and the Sydney to Hobart Boxing Day yacht race is also on TV..75th year and so many lives lost over the years in this sailing race...what a waste of lives.
Have fun all..catch ya after Boxing Day if not before...gotta put on my boxing day boxer shorts with snow scenes on them loll...great in 36C degrees weather. See ya all soon.

While you’re getting your boxers on, we’re winding down our Christmas night with the annual viewing of Bing Crosby’s White Christmas. Though there’s nothing even remotely white currently outside, we enjoy closing the night out with it. I may even sneak a little playing time in before bed.

Tomorrow begins homework where I have six assessments to correct. I’m thinking one for each day and am calling it “The Six Days of Work.”
