Any tuner pedal candidate needs a calibration range down to 432 hz. Because, you know, magic. The magic of keeping random harp players off stage, that is



La Bella Low Tension Flats in medium scale don't appear to be readily available anywhere. A great part of the reason for the Warwick selection is the .100 fourth string. It doesn't look to my eye the .105 is fully seated in a nut cut to .100. Will likely go back to the D'Addario tapewounds.



The Double Four ain't going to shake Madison Square Garden. But you can busk outside MSG with the Double Four and a battery.

I'm most comfortable with a .100 E string, but being these strings are so darn nice (at least they have been on my Rogue bass) I'm gonna give 'em a shot. The only set lower is with a .96 E, and I might as well be playing guitar again. Your reasoning for going smaller is definitely justified unless you want to get out the rasp file and begin shaving!

Hey, b-on-t, thanks for the LaBella link. I haven't been on it and thought I'd take a peek. Seems as I didn't purchase the FS set but the FL (.104) set. A tad lighter and maybe a good compromise between fingers and bass neck. There may be better strings out there, but I truly love the way these have felt and sound and am optimistic they'll do fine on the Jazz.

Thanks! I get along with most of my coworkers (our site has about 400) but some are exceptional. Change can be good, but it can also break up the band. I'm just trying to stay positive.

RR, how are ya? The tuner is neato-keeno and quite diminutive. Pretty bright readout too. Haven’t stick it on to try it, but my gut says it’s adequate for the amount spent.

While I’m excited about the BG-75, I’m not going into it naive. A Rumble it will not be, but I like different tones for different occasions. Other than the two VOX and Stage 800 and Rumble 100 pairs, all my combos have their own unique voice.

So I’m fine either way with the PJB and actually hope it has a clean, modern tone. I can use that with the new, deeper LaBellas and add my Zoom B1N if the need to darken what I’m hearing is requested.

Be careful on the road with the ice. We’re supposed to see some too before it turns into crystals.

Pretty fine, I'm sitting around on a Saturday and have not changed out of flannel pants yet, so it's a relaxed day. I like my NS Design microtuner, and would not mind trying out the Bullet tuner if your reviews remain positive.

Looking forward to your thoughts on the redbox. I'm consulting my finances to see how soon I can put together my bass combo shoot-out. I'll need to chart out my testing regimen to make sure I cover it all efficiently. Maybe I'll get that part done today.

Still not icy yet here, but I'm going to stay inside as much as I can. Might be able to talk my wife into playing a bit today or tomorrow. Probably guitar and violin, because bass and violin requires more skilled players than we.

M, go with what you want, but if you’re looking to perform a kind service, I’d love for ya to get the LaBella low-tension strings and try them out for a while. I’ve only used higher-tension strings during my time and have wondered what slightly rubbery strings play like. Maybe others would too!

What of the TI flats? They are quite low-tension with a .096" E string. Has the group tried them? (I'm sure there's a club about them...)

Double R, an afternoon of making music is always good time.

Ah, the snow is dudding out here. Maybe three inches. A far cry from yesterday’s predictions.

I’ve got 42 tests to correct and another 21 to go over, so it’ll be a while for me, but I ran my phone through the Aux In, with its separate volume control, and sounded great. It just needs a bass through it now. Gonna try tonight. Also want to mess with the Jazz and get those new strings on.

Not among those who tried TI Jazz Flats. The TI short scale is nominally too long for the Chowny CHB-1 at 35.5 inches. The winding would be right on the tuning peg. The TI long scale is too short for the through-body Stingray.

Hey @GonePlaid I did notice on the La Bella website that they list the LT Flexible Flats as a medium set on the drop down box but a pic of the Short scale are shown ALTHOUGH the text relates to Medium scale. Just to confuse things further GP they list the Short scale from the drop down box and show the same Short scale pic but the text relates to Short scale..so it appears to me they have used a short scale pic for the medium set as well so maybe they have actually got stock for the medium? Check the pics I took showing the drop down box for Short and Medium and check their descriptions The second pic shows the drop down box when I chose Medium scale as a Short but the description states Medium.

I've heard the TI's are great but question if they're worth the $. I guess it would depend on one's usage: live?, recording?, practice?.

Thx. When I looked for them elsewhere(?), I couldn't find anything descriptive. My problem, and possibly Morri's, is that short scales will fit but the silks overlap the nut-not a good thing. My D'Ad's are going semi dead so if I order these soonly, maybe I'd get 'em about the time the current ones croak.

The new Audio version of the Vox Mini has Bluetooth to make it a living room speaker, but also has a ¼" guitar input and an amPlug input & return for attaching your favorite guitar sound. The 50 watt, 4 ohm 6.5" woofer and 1" tweeter, amp also has Aux In and Headphones Out and a built-in AC30 modeling circuit.

(sigh) Still a bit shy of what I'd like to see in a Mini SuperBeetle. But, if they keep playing with it maybe they'll come up with something.

I hear ya ‘Dog. As ones who is a sucka for anything VOX, I would pass on this unless Auntie told me to use the inheritance money for this very item before she passed.

If you’re thinking how I’m feeling, an actual gig-worthy combo, 250-watts, 15” speaker, full compliment of I/O jacks, and weighs around 30 lbs. oh yeah, let’s do it for around four Franklins. VOX...your move.

You may actually be closer to the truth than you know. First, VOX isn’t the first name in bass amps. They’re more a niche brand and that’s fine, but sales are going to be less than Fender’s, no doubt. Also, if you’re gonna toy with what the public really wants, an adult-size amp to be used out, then your net sales may disappoint.

I don’t get it because it wasn’t that long ago they produced the T-series line and it seems as if they were liked by players. Why ditch the direction, especially now that this NuTube concept may have legs to run.
