The Combo Club

I had wanted one from the time I found out they existed. I knew it was P/J, but I figured TBird, what the hey. I was initially disappointed in the sound and its weight but with the Cobalts I'm pretty happy. Because of what our repertoire is(60s/70s classic rock), I don't try for a TBird sound from the Jag. The Epi Bird is another NR like my 67-just my preference.View attachment 3097019

Over in Rumble Club they show a method of connecting 2 R100Cs. 1 on each side of the stage would do nicely. Like Duke, I've accumulated a remarkable amount of stuff in 50 years of bass playing, most of which is HEAVY. I'm too old and tired to move heavy any more. Everything I have works but quite a few items never leave the house. I have the equivalent of 3 PA systems but for all but 1 of our regular venues, I use a JBL EON one and a 4 channel passive mixer(Behringer)w/ no FX since the EON has reverb. A couple of our rooms even that is overkill. For those gigs I use an R40. The amp collection(b4 the 112):Addendum:[the Kasino is my practice amp. This pic might be the last time I roll it out the door]View attachment 3096763

GP, that's quite the impressive lineup. The Casino looks intimidating just standing there. I wouldn't blame ya for wanting to put it in your private museum and charge admission to view it! Today's kids, unless they're broke and need to buy used and cheap, have little to no idea how heavy musical equipment was back then. It's no wonder bass players want tone and schlep-ability together.

Hey, side note: the Ampeg head ran just peachy this afternoon and evening. I'm guessing it was one of my delusional spells that come upon me where I usually believe I'm Charlie Chaplin and waddle around hitting people with a cane. Oh well, I'm back on my original plan, but will still be bringing the Rumble with me, if anything so I can see what it does. Also, I'm gonna hunt down the posts concerning running two of them simultaneously just in case I get a whim to add a twin to the family. If the PF-800 gives me any more trouble, I seriously plan on taking a look at the Stage 800. Thanks again for your interesting post.

Sorry I have been a tad remiss about posting kids..this thing with the wife has me back to my bachelor days and having to do the dishes, laundry, shopping, cooking..and looking after the injured old cheese..I'm pooped lol
Mike best of luck with this upcoming gig..I feel the same as you when something doesnt work as it should..its all I can think about trying to find the fault and if not found..i cant get to sleep loll Im sure the little Rumble will do the job if all else fails (so to speak). Get your best friend the Pastor to bless your gear just to be on the safe side.
Btw Mike..they looked just like millipedes...well without my specs on..loll The bigger mystery is where those little bits of black plastic came from lol

Giff, you nailed it. Pastor John, my best friend for the past 45 years or so, is exactly the kinda guy who'll bless what needs to be blessed if it means for a successful show. We're both making a mini-vacation of this next week where he's driving out from Ohio to pick me up (he needs to do some business in our hometown), we're loading up my gear (Rumble 100 and stool included), and heading to Columbus. Between rehearsals and working out the logistics for the show I plan on eating a lot of pizza and going to Sam Ash for a speaker cable. Never been to one before and I thought maybe they'd give me free stuff because I'm from Iowa. Who knows? Then the bubble bursts next Sunday and we'll be back in IA that evening. I'm hoping the congregation holds me for ransom and I can stay indefinitely, playing music all day. With my luck the ransom note will read to my wife, "We demand $10," and I'll be back home prepping for school anyway. Where are all the zeros, people?

Prayers for healing for the Mrs
and for you stamina to hold down the fort.
As far as my family
We have four children 2 boys &2 girls
With 12 grandkids between them ages 23 years old to 5 years old.
I am on our Praise Team tomorrow holding down the low end for the Lord.
I know this is the combo club, but I like to show my two USA G&L 2500
So here for your viewing pleasure are my two players
Duke

Both basses are beautiful, but that natural wood G & L is extra gorgeous. I've never tried that brand; are they heavy? I figure being five-strings they're girthy, but I was just wondering what they tip on the scale? BTW, your retirement auto idea is a sweet one.

Hey Mike ya got the ransom price wrong..."We demand $100,000 for the safe return of Charlie Chaplin plus $10 for his cane."

I was also wondering how heavy the natural G&L was too. My Peavey T-40 weighs in at 10.8lbs and that's a light one lol

In case you can't find it, it's pretty easy. Cable from effects send of amp A to effects return of amp B. All tone, etc., is controlled from amp A,only the power amp/spkrs work in B. Advantage:both will sound the same.

My friend, the pastor, owned one of these back in the early 80s when he played bass. I was the drummer during those years, but remember holding it on occasion and being thankful that my sticks didn't weigh as much as that freight liner. He ran it through a Peavey Century head and 215 bottom, if I recall.

Giffro, I'm linking an interesting group who you may or may not know. It's a very cool video with what appears to be a T-40 being used. The group is called Mutemath. Give it a view.

Interesting group and video. With bands like this, I always wonder how they play live since one guy is doing both bass and guitar in the video.

Thanks GonePlaid, it's appreciated. At this moment, I'd prefer the consistency of two amps working in tandem, with the same volume, but who's to say down the road? One item that could cause the sinking of two 100c amps would be whether they could be safely stacked or not. My guess is probably not.

I've seen a live vid or two, and it looks as if he plays a baritone guitar or an electric with what I'm guessing is an emphasis on the bassy side of it. I believe the drummer is the singer too, so it's an interesting arrangement.

No reason not since you have no need to get to the controls on the bottom one. Even the on/off switch is on the back and so's the effects return. I was picturing one on each side of the stage if you're not going into the PA, but stacking would be great if you are lining out. And,at 100W each, plus the coupling effect-WOW!:woot:

EGAD! A singing drummer? What is this world coming to?:smug:

1982, my compadre. I played drums and was one of four singers in what would now be a classic rock group who played in our area for a few years until college called. You Got Another Thing Coming, Sharp Dressed Man, Pink Houses just to name a few. My range shrank as my age grew, but I didn't sing any longer to keep it going too. Now I get a mic stuck in front of me in case I want to join in, but I'm too busy making sure I'm not messing up notes to bother. Oh, for a 24-hr period to be able to go back in time and re-live those moments. but with the wisdom I've attained between then and now. Otherwise, I'd have to watch me make the same dumb mistakes all over again!
