The Combo Club

Combos. It's not the size of the amp that matters.

I know, so last century.
I'll keep thinking...

Hey RR, I just got a text from the eighties and they told me you’re not authorized to use their mottos. Shame, it was killer!

Tomorrow I will announce the five finalists of which you may vote for one. The spoils will go to the winner, but who will it be? This will be an exciting weekend!

Awesome, Rod! Here’s wishing you and the ladies a great show. Are ya gonna be playing your folk stuff or what? I’m so excited for ya. Say, do ya remember how to play with other humans? Well, no time like now to find out. We expect details, okay?

Sorry GP! In all the excitement I didn’t pay attention. I had just gotten a notice that Rod had written, but you are correct, it is you.

So same questions, is this with your regular group? More importantly, which combo will you be bringing? I’m predicting the 40c. How close am I? Are ya nervous?

1) No BFD. (2) 3 regulars, 1 sub-we all know the same [stuff]. (C) The room's big enuff to need the R100. (IV) Nah. I'm too old to give a ratz@$$.

Ice in the veins, ladies and gentlemen. The rest of us should be so lucky. Knock ‘em dead (not really, it’s Florida) on Saturday night. Hey, can I request Happy Birthday? It’ll be when old finally catches up to my grumpy and fart. We’ll still take a short summary of the show if you’re inclined to do so.

A) Happy Birthday in absentia.(2) Hopefully no deaths but "Ya never Know"(III) I just spent 20 minutes(+/-)typing a list of songs we might do over in THUNDERBIRD CLUB. Suffice to say, it'll be a lot of 60's-70's rock and C&W songs for our 55+y/o audience. We don't use a set list per se, we 'feel' the crowd(WHAT!?)and guess what they wanna hear. I always tell them "Everything we play, you've heard before...Today.....On yer way here." We always start with an instrumental or 2 to eeease them into the fact that it's live music, not a freakin' BOSE waveradio. Unfortunately, because we hafta use a sub guitarist(the better of our 2 regular guitar men has respiratory issues), our repertoire is slightly limited.
Edit to add: Both guitarists and I alternate singing lead vocals with harmonies prn*. Drummer sings some harmony.

I'm sure you'll be fine even with the sub-guit player. BOSE Wave radio...lol! And please, with all the feeling of the audience every good band must do at the beginning of the gig, please use the Cornonavirus Task Force's guidelines (it's on a card) keeping a safe distance from party-goers and NOT double-dipping from the bowl of guacamole! Stay safe my friend and rock the place with bass. Bring it on, Rumble 100!

I made these up. They'll be prominently displayed at the front of the bandstand.

I should be there to support GP, at least for a while, and hopefully get some video to post here!

Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!

Someone has said the magic word, Rumble! And, in honor of the Rumble combo to be used this Saturday in one of the first live gigs of the reopening, I have been authorized by The Rumble Club Trivia! department to announce the award of one shmillion shmackeroons to the winner of the aforementioned Combo Club Motto Contest. Yay, combos! :bassist:

Hi! You may remember me from such special events as the '60s Bassists Club's Best Gig Story Contest, and numerous Rumble Trivia! contests in The Rumble Club. And, as a close personal friend of Mr. Fearless Leader, (Happy Birthday, Mikie!) I'm very pleased to make this announcement. :)

Without further ado, on behalf of The Rumble Club Trivia! department, I'd like to wish all the Combo Club Motto Contestants the very best of luck! So, get your entries in soon! Hey, who couldn't use an extra shmillion shmackeroons, huh?

No purchase is necessary. Decisions of the judges are final. Entries not valid where void or prohibited. Please remember to phrase your motto to make it "enchanting" to Fearless Leader! Mottos not so phrased will be null, void and pointless, not unlike the so-called prizes, which are for grins and giggles only, and are intended for the sole enjoyment of our audience only and not to be copied, borrowed, purloined nor otherwise appropriated nor exhibited in any manner unbecoming of the owners, shareholders, investors and their successors and assigns, be it foreign or domestic, as in: "no place like home", even if the heels of ruby slippers be clicked, or not. This shall in no way compel, contract, bind or infetter said "Club" nor any members, visitors, fans or detractors of such nor ever inure to the benefit of anyone, at any place, or at any time. Forever and ever, amen. Copyrights belong to there respective owners and are not used with permission, nor malice aforethought, nor any real, or imagined, thought at all, for that matter. Such matter being of no matter, substance, or intelligence in life or limb, being pure superfluousness by all accounts.

Very nice, ‘Dog, except for the micro-pink disclaimer (thoughtful though). My eyes are gonna be sixty tomorrow too, ya know.

So listen to The Dog, ya’ll, because today is your day to vote for our club’s motto. I’ll be posting the five nominees today at quitting time, whenever that it in a Pandemic.

Just be browsing these here pages in the afternoon and let the voting begin. I’ll tally the votes tomorrow, because it’s a national holiday at my Mom’s house, and reveal the winner. Remember, it’s worth one a shmillion macaroons to the winner, and they’e sponsored by Keebler. Oh wait, it’s shmackeroons. Yikes, cancel the cookies...now!

Remember to vote!

I am using one of these View attachment 3860704(Peavey Max 250) for small venues and for Jazz gigs. Love it...

FBQC, welcome to the Combo Club, and please accept my humble apologies for not saying so a few days ago. Usually, I'm right on top of things, but this has been a busy week. I would like to offer to you since you have already met our primary request for a combo picture, a membership number for you. If I remember correctly, it's #199 too; the final number in the one-hundreds. Please let me know and it's yours.

Also, as with Morrighan and others, I'd love a short (or long) review on your Peavey amp. You may be the first who ones one that we know of and we're all curious to know how it sounds. Get back to me and I'll sign ya up. Thanks for stopping by!

First gig with the new rig:

View attachment 3860716

You may recall I bought the CMD102P off to the left to make sure I had enough rig for these gigs. Turns out I didn't need half of what this rig's capable of, the PA was more than up to the task, but it still sounded great and is lighter than the 1x12 150W it replaced as my primary rig, so loadin/loadout was that much easier. This is officially a gig rig!

Liko, thanks so much for sharing your group pic. Wow, people playing music...together! That's what's nice about the Markbass brand; they create a lot of flexibility within their product base. Glad you're enjoying it and thinking about your clubmates. That looks like a pretty cool group and I have a feeling that Abby can rock!
