Hey, the best bass cab in the world uses 8x10s. They sound plenty deep.

After checking out the 2-10 vs. 1-15 Rumble extension cab thread, I'd probably get a 2-10 extension cab if absolutely necessary. 4-10s can sound great.

But my preference would be a combo that would carry most of the water unless I had to go FOH. I'm just so done with fussy.

This latest project is a Little Feat meets Allmans roots thing. But I know from past experience, a P bass can sit in lots of mixes really well. Surf, Country, Rock, Blues, R&B (although a lot of modern R&B sort of needs a 5 string IMO). I don't really see myself doing any slap happy stuff ever again. Like I said, meat and potatoes. Not too zingy, not too boomy.

Proof we're not all alike. I had a mid 70s SVT/810 rig. Never liked the sound of it.

I never owned one. But I’ve never heard one sound bad if the venue is large enough. It is a very specific sound though.

I thought I needed a bigger amp for the hotel gig(Miami Beach)that we were going to be playing. "Everybody" had SVT's-and I had played through another bassist's rig with 2 810's. I think, looking back, I'd have been better off with the bass amp[200W/2x15] I already had(see pic), at least to start the engagement. I've since learned that they hafta to be pushed to do their best. It wasn't even 1/2 volume. Maybe kinda 'choked' er sumthin'. The best thing about it was that it went up on a 4' high stage and stayed there for 50 weeks, down for 2, up for 50 more, then outta there. And sold.
BTW, I've had this since '70.

Well, first day of classes today and I'm already in isolation. A sore throat, runny nose and some aches emerged yesterday, so I'm legally required to isolate for 10 days. I have a Covid-19 test scheduled for Thursday and will get the results within a week of that. I feel like it is just a cold, but it is best to be safe.

Seriously, I’m sorry to hear about your unfortunate situation. Will you be teaching online from home? That’s what’s going to happen to us due to a severe sub shortage. I’d take the time to rest up and go from there. The allergy theory is a sound one.

So you don’t feel bad, I’m now moving to the library with my kids, computer, portable smart board, and some thoughts and prayers. It’s to further spread out our students as Iowa’s got the highest new case numbers, per capita, in the entire country. Thanks, to the universities opening, we’ve moved up to rural star status.

Doc, hang in there good buddy. Play some bass and keep us up on how you’re feeling. What a year!

I start rehearsals with a new band soon. I’m thinking that my Phil Jones Super Flightcase might not cut it. Very underpowered even with the powered extension cab.

So I might be giving a Rumble 500 combo a go.

PJB seems overly fussy (and underpowered for 500w driving two cabs). All I own is a passive P. All I want from an amp is a solid meat-and-potatoes sound that will keep up with a drummer.

I wish the Rumble 500 combo came as a 1-15. I just know that the 200 wouldn’t be enough for me. But I know 2-10 can sound good. Not too keen on 12” bass cabs.

The two tens in that combo, IMHO, will offer you a lot of sound for their size. You could always...and I can say this because I’m now an essential worker...but their 115 cab and a Rumble head. The 800 sounds mighty nice. Just saying!

Sorry that the numbers have exploded like that. The situation in the US seems most unfortunate. We're all rooting you all to turn this around!

We'll be delivering courses online whether we are infected or not. Primary and secondary students, on the other hand, are doing face to face instruction. We'll see how well that goes. The provincial government just relaxed restrictions. I think people are getting tired of the social restrictions. People want life to get back to normal, but it is not that easy. We all need to find courage and patience right now.

I'm not feeling that bad myself. It could just be a cold, but it's best to be careful for sure.

That is something I'd love to hear! Both bands will always be held in high regard for me. Haven't heard any Little Feat in a while - what an insanely talented group! "Oh Atlanta", "Fat Man in the Bathtub", "Dixie Chicken", "Willin", etc...

aw sorry I love Little Feat and it's true Waiting for Columbus got a lot of time in my cassette deck on the road. Guess the tale had to be told? I've not thought of my Danish guitarist friend in decades, and not seen him in as long.

I've lived a relatively sheltered life, it seems. I was not aware that such a thing even existed, let alone experiencing such a horror. (But, damn, Lowell George is missed.)
