Feel for you as I've received daily reports from my daughter, this is her first year teaching. She's at a magnet school for the arts near Orlando, FL - teaching high school honors geometry and calculus. She is dealing with some in person students and lot's still online - and technical difficulties galore! She's smart and tough and will figure it out, but I feel for her having her first year teaching in these most unusual times!
My son is a first-year teacher in San Antonio. All online until after Labor Day, then a mix of both. He’s doing fine, but not what he expected/prepped for these past five years.
Definitely not the traditional first-year teacher experience, but he is finding that his comfort level with technology is appreciated and a valuable assist to some of the long-term folks in the building, making him much more of a resource to the others than is probably the norm for a newbie. Good on him!

The acoustic is just a speaker out from my computer for backing tracks and what not until I get some monitors.
The MXR is running through my Fx Loops and mostly just there for the noise gate and a little sculpting. The board is my clean tone from the GT1B and the dirt of the angry driver mixed through the LS-2 into the compressor and right into the front of the amp. I've been messing around with the effects for a while now but I think this is close to the final form. The GT1B is set up as stomps for various pedals that i want handy but won't use as much as my clean and dirt.
Sheesh, I know I haven’t been around much, but C7, you already ditched the new GK and bought a Rumbler? What??? Picking up a new Am Pro ain’t too bad a tradeoff, I must admit.
Can you give us a brief explanation why the GK didn’t work out for ya? For that price you’d have thought it’d slice, dice, and play super nice. Spill it, Cracks!

Bless the newbies. I hope this doesn’t sour them on the profession. There’s truly nothing like it, and we can only hope this isn’t forever. Tell both of them to maintain flexibility, listen closely to their students, and keep that bar high for themselves and their kids.

Thank you, it's all been recently acquired and so much fun to play with. I've been waiting a long time to pull the trigger on better gear than I have ever had. I ran a peavey 115 combo for a while then a TC Bg250. Then that acoustic held it down for a bit. I have wanted a good amp for a long time and I said screw it and jumped on a markbass. This is actually the second I had the 102p but it has a speaker wire issue. When I took it in this 103p was on sale for less than i paid for the 102p so I traded it in and got WAY more for a few hundred less. The boss GT1B was my first pedal and I LOVE IT. If you run it through your computer and actually use the program to adjust your settings and pedals it's amazing. A lot of guys in the owners thread have ditched their pedal boards for it and gig/record. It takes patience but it's worth it. And for 200 bucks 100ish used you'll get more than your monies worth. I'm using the Para EQ and a preamp sim for my clean tone with delay, reverb, flanger and phaser just a stomp away.
I have another patch set up for hip hop or techno or lofi stuff with octaver, synth, and a boost assigned to the stomps. The effects are modeled after not only boss pedals but there are sans amp, big muff, MXR, markbass etc. give it a shot you'll enjoy it.
I don't have any experience with the ZOOM i am aware of it and it seems 50/50 on preference between the two options from those who have used both, neither being bad at all. GT1B has some extra features that the zoom doesn't but some prefer some of the sounds on the zoom and the operation better. I dunno, I spent hours and hours adjusting each effect to where I want it with the goal of not having to tweak anything once I've stomped on a button. Now i have 6 stomps each on two custom patches so 12 "pedals" for 200 bucks plus another 50 for the foot switch. Vs the cost of buying one of each pedal?
The GK was super nice. Great modern tone. Super lite and very loud. I just wanted a more old school sound for my blues band. The Rumble is filling that bill. Great review, thank very much. I think for what Boss offers in one box, two bills is like giving it away. I began assembling a small pedalboard this summer, but I don't mind hanging a multi-effects pedal alongside. The other one I have my eye on is Fender's Downtown Express pedal. I have a vision of running it through my Terror Bass' effects loop, which uses a 12AX7 tube, and giving me an alternative tone when recording. I currently have a Zoom B1on, but its main job of late is collecting dust.
Enough about what's in my head, you will now and forever be Combo Club member 211. Congratulations and welcome to the family! I think that your three-speakered MB combo is really cool, visually as well as sonically.
I know what you're talking about, C7. I owned a first-gen 210 combo with matching 210 cab, and whenever I turned it on and played for a bit I'd like what I heard. After a bit though, I'd yearn for more of, as you said, old school tone but couldn't get rid of the inherit icy upper tones and too tight bottom. Plus, I wasn't a fan of the famous growl as much as most others either. I know, so why did I buy it? Ah, I call those my wilderness years of tone search. I'm closer now than ever before. Thank you kindly! It's a monster of an amp. If I really needed to I could absolutely run the bass directly into it and play any genre. I am mostly into hard rock and metal, but i also love funk, jazz, reggae, and electronic music. It handles everything. The colors were an added bonus, not everyone's flavor but I dig them.
The GT1B is an absolute steal for the price, certainly worth buying and checking out. I took it on vacation and fit it and my head phones in my gig bag and used it for practicing.
Just have to ask, why a green E string and pink for the rest? Happenstance? Accident? And do you have a green set with a pink E?
I broke the pink E lol. But... those knobs I picked up happened to coordinate perfectly. I have green and white on my 6 string. I have some more white yellow blue and orange sets as well for spares. i have some black beauties too. There's no rhyme or reason really for my color coordination at this point other than it needed replaced and this is what color I had on me. I find them fun and I've noticed I pick my basses up more when they catch my eye.
JPD, Gibson doesn’t have as nice a tiger stripes on its Les Pauls! I can’t wait to see the finished product.
