Been kinda quiet from Casa GP lately. That's 'cos I've been watching my hockey and baseball teams kick some keester. Prolly won't make it to the Monday nite open mic depending on what time the Rays game is on. Priorities, ya know.
We have a gig scheduled for 10/24 that we're pretty sure will be 86'ed 'cos of low ticket sales[older crowd afraid to go out]. I might go play with the other 3 guys on 10/16 just for gits and shiggles. It's at the place that pi**es me off, but it's been awhile since all 4 of were in the same place at the same time. Might be interesting to see how many songs I remember. Might even take the R200C. Not the Kasino.
I s'pose I could practice.

I have been very happy with my Focusrite 2i4... It sounds good, is easy to use, and has two inputs, so bass+ mic is a real possibility. I have been toying with making a video for a while, but I doubt anyone wants to see me, despite some suggestions otherwise. FWIW, all the music in my sig was made with it.

Anyway, a solid recommendation for the interface ( I have gen 2, they're on gen 3 now.)

If I want to play my bass live on teh interwebs, monitor through my headphones, and talk/sing/witch cackle I'm going to also need a microphone.

headphone monitor from the DAW
leaves one Line In free for a mike

that I don't yet have.

Didn't exactly budget that this month. Was more of a puzzle solved that I really didn't intend to solve, or see solved.

As a bonus, I suppose I could record with it or some such nonsense.

For the kind of recording you’re talking about, any serviceable mic outta do ya. I use a run-of-the-mill Shure vocal mic and it does fine. Do a little socially distant busking and invest in a decent microphone.

Right now I’m think an interface with more than two inputs. I’d like three but figure they sell ‘em in even numbers. Nope, haven’t looked yet, but run a channel for bass, vocal, and an acoustic/electric guitar and there ya go.

Just read they you run your vocals and instruments into your mixer, run that into your interface, and then to the computer. Makes sense. Told ya I’m a newb with this stuff, but getting there.

As I come strolling back into the club after a busy work week, I see SR and swink auditioning for the 1:00 AM slot at Caesar’s, but no one helping out onefitter, who has a vintage Ampeg needing some grill work.
It's what I used while in the local community theater "orchestra" back in the mid 70's. It works very well as bass amp. It was a 350 seat house without pa support for the band.
Oh wait...it’s for a “guitar” combo.

The DAW I use is the PreSonus USB 96, and two inputs for quarter inch jack and XLR are available. Used the second line in for (yes, you guessed it) my metronome. The videos I make are boring, musically. Spider exercises and the like that nobody would ever do IRL. Gotta get that stretch, right?

Closer to the Real World™, I'm going to have to add voice to this endeavour. And not seeing any other way around it. Even if I'm just calling out scale degrees, or if I'm actually having to converse in real time, then a mike is what I need. It's the Shure SM57.

Sorry but, I don't know anything about Ampegs but I do know a thing or two about cats and was just trying to assist in it not happening again .

I think we’ve all had some thoughts of doing mayhem to our feline friends in these kinds of situations. Myself included. My solution would have been to just turn the rig around so it faces flush against the wall. Of course, I sustained some damage to my Traynor cabinet before I realized this.

My big beef was one of the male cats took a hankering to lifting his tail on my tweed bass case. Yes, he got punted a few times. Gently, of course!

The COVID sheltering is making me miss the company of others enough that this is sounding appealing.

No disrespect to my wife (she remains my favorite companion in this or any time), but I'm far more of an extrovert than she is, and not seeing people very much is a drag.

Thanks gentlemen for the wise advice. Every time I think about doing the deed I remember my solemn promise to that bass I’d never let it go, but to my ears it sounds terrible right now and has been regulated to space in a spare bedroom.

The P’s maple neck is so much nicer with its satin finish, plus I’m known for a really dark tone and the Jazz seems to make it worse.

I’ll hang onto it for the present because I don’t have time to do anything other than sneak time in to putting fingers to strings.

It’s nice to know there are good people out there trying to prevent seller’s remorse. Thanks!

In my experience, musicians are not crowd-averse. Especially if the proceeds from the door are fair. Music brings people together. How good is that? Or from another angle, when people come together they like music too. Either way, it's win to me.

'Preciate the thought, but since I won't be home 'til tomorrow, won't be picking up my 'Bird. Not really feeling bummed, more like bored. BTW, 3/4 of our band played Thursday night. It was at a(outdoor)place we used to play that has cut the money-but not their prices-to where they've ticked me off to the point of refusing to play there(long enuff story to not bother y'all with details).Also don't really wanna feed the 'skeeters'. Yes, I'm a documented GOF.

This story of cutting pay to musicians while not reducing any of their prices made me think of Tom Petty's words:
