I bought this amp, opened it, plugged in once, and it just wasn't quite loud enough for me. It's loud enough for playing at home, maybe small venues, and that's all I really need, but I want something that can rumble a little more. There's nothing wrong with the amp. It's brand new aside from the 5 minutes of testing playtime. It comes in the original packaging, etc., it's just been opened. (Specs on the amp copy-and-pasted below for your reference.)

It goes for $199.99 + tax. I'll save you the tax (roughly $14 when I bought it; I'll eat the cost) if we make it an even $200. Please don't offer less.

I prefer cash, but checks are fine too. If you live in Muscatine, I'll even drop it off for you, otherwise we can try to work out an arrangement.

I wrote to him and mentioned there was another ad for an older Fender Bassman 60 a few posts down that was competitively-priced and that if he wanted to actually sell it he might want to do a little better than just knocking off sales tax. Heck, GC has a 40C for under 150 bucks and a 100C for around two. Okay, go ahead and tell me I was wrong for doing that, but I hoped it made the guy re-think to who he'd be selling it to. Anyway, I just checked and it hasn't changed as of yet so maybe it was to no avail. Oh well, I've got RR excited about a Quad Four combo!

Hey PThrash! Yeah, probably futile and I’m not usually the politically-correct police, but it’s a bass combo amp and that’s our jurisdiction. I’m not gonna lose sleep over it, but tried nicely to realize it’s just as smart for someone to buy new and pick up two years of warranty versus pay his price and get nothing. Fender dropped the transferable warranty, from what I can tell, in 2017. Too bad too.

Evil brilliance, ‘68. I gotta respect that! There was another bass combo amp a few weeks ago which was going sold for near retail and I did the same thing; emailed the seller and explained that resale on today’s electronics is a buyer’s market. I can’t remember what he was selling though. He pulled it off that day and I haven’t seen it since. Maybe he sold it, who knows?

I did some reading to make sure I could somewhat explain it, but it's mostly an alternative to porting that can produce extra low frequency response without the air 'chuffing' that ports can produce. It can have a steaper roll off but it can be tuned based on the mass and material of the radiator. The box is sealed in this type of system and as the active driver pushes back from it's impulse the internal air pressure pushes out the passive radiator. It is supposed to be in phase with the active driver.

Maybe it's used on the D4 to keep the size of the amp small not having to make space for the port tubing.

I took the grill off of the back of my D4 and took pictures. There are spacers in there that are a PITA so I don't suggest taking the grill off unless you have to.

I was thinking the same exact thing. Thanks, Protagonist!

Before I wrap up this valentines day Sunday (oops, now Monday), I wanted to let ya'll know I signed a truce with the Scrambler on my Ampeg pedal. We're gonna take it slow and easy at first, but who knows what might come out of it? I ran its drive at about 9:00 and volume around 1:00 and it didn't sound half bad. I do think you lose some bass while it's on, but my TC Spectra Comp offers a boost to balance it out a bit. I don't plan on stomping on that switch too often, but at least I've stopped calling my lawyer about it.

Late start for school may be canceled, wind chill warning, -500 below, yada yada yada. I might see ya in the morning.

It was 82F today with 90% humididity. Shorts and T-shirt weather(as usual), but only 'cos I gots to wear sumpin'. S'posed to get up to 85 by 2PM tomorrow(Monday).

Hey there. I’m sure Florida appreciates the effort too, GP.

We’re currently at -3 degrees with a real feel of -23 and snow through 1:00 AM. Looking at a morning temp of -2. The presidents have struck and no one is going to school tomorrow.

Right now we’re a 10:30 AM late start, but the boss is gonna let us know at six what’s happening. I’m tempting fate by staying up, but I’ll blame you. You’re the guy who mentioned eighties music today so I spent a bit reminiscing with Tears for Fears’ Everybody wants to Rule the World. It was fun and gave the old index finger a good workout.

I'd posted this elsewhere in response to a discussion of "Get Back". It's the version by the group I was with in Miami in the early 80's. "Get Back" was the second half of a medley with Andy Gibb's "I Just Wanna Be Your Everything", so the last chorus of "....Everything" is included. George(our trumpet player) on lead vocal of "....Everything", Scott(guitar)on lead vocal of "Get Back", me on bass* and harmony, Ken(drummer)on harmony. Recorded live at the Marco Polo Hotel in Miami Beach, FL, 1982.
*1967 NR TBird>blue line SVT/810 rig.

Journey in the 70s was good old Arena Rock band (i.e., albums Infinity, Evolution, and Departure). Then Journey replaced Gregg Rollie, the keyboard player, with Jonathan Cain. From there Journey started producing 80s Pop music versus good 'ole R&R. That is when I quit listening to them. Just my opinion, of course. :)

GP, I’ve only listened to this with my phone and will catch it again later with speakers, but I thought you sounded just fine with the Ampeg rig. Even more manly than your usual, IMHO!

I know it doesn’t matter if you’re not happy with your sound, but I think you described it worse than it really was. A good player is a good player.
