The Combo Club

I also gig with a Fender Rumble 500, but seeing as we have pa support I am tempted to the the R40 on a gig
What say you combo peeps?
Duke

Sound advice from a fellow Rumbler who uses a 40 live. Now me, I like to live dangerously so I’d try taking just the 40 one night, run it through FOH, and cross my fingers it’s loud enough to be used as a monitor.

Seriously, if it’s ballads and oldies, I wouldn’t worry too much, but if there’s a salute to British heavy metal set, then the 500 would have to go.

How about splitting the difference and pick up either a R200 or 100 combo and sell the other two? Of course, I do like Fender tens too. Have fun, Duke!

What would be fun is to take both in, plug into the 40 but act like you're in the 500. See who notices.

Time for FL to fly in and save the day...

Not much happening here. The guy I have been trying to recruit to our JugBand just released an album of originals with other local musical dignitaries...mostly folk style acoustic. I better download it and learn the bass parts so I can play with him....Time to face it that the JugBand is not going to make it out of CoVid. Other than that, I was smitten by Zoe’s version of Bésame Mucho and have been trying to learn both the bass (lefty Hofner in video) and guitar. Tried the POG with both Epi acoustic 6 and Squire Bullet. Much better with the POG for the 12-string effect, esp acoustic. While I love the single cutaway JB I built, the Michael Kelly ABG gets closest to Zoe, using Vintage on the Rumble 200cV3 COMBO.

Just practice, practice, practice. Oh, got the VOX AP2PS amplug ordered. Plan to use it for practice as we tour to NorCal in the Airstream June and July.

SR, my long lost friend from the left coast, hello and thank you for the vote of confidence! Playing some Doobie Bros in your honor as I scribe.

Swinky, it’s currently the infamous ‘Finals Week’ in my neck of the woods. End of trimester, report cards out next Tuesday, parent conferences next Wednesday and Thursday. This weekend will be correcting and grading, or maybe grading and correcting...it’s all the same.

What isn’t is any fun bass playing. I snuck in 30 minutes on Tuesday night and that’s been it. The following week I have off for spring break and I plan on reintroducing myself to my instruments!

I can’t believe there’s not been any traffic. Even the clubhouse carpets are clean.

GP, good luck and have fun tonight, you ole jazzer you. Crank that 40!

I’ll try and get on this weekend in between short answer essays and multiple choice questions.

Love and respect to you all,

FL

I met someone and fell in love again. First time since the separation. That's been keeping me busy. Even my basses have been feeling ignored.

Hey, Doc’s got a nurse making a love prescription with him.

Me: dang, if he was a lefty I’d be nabbing those Hofners like the Hamburgler! I’d normally grab the bass amps but I have no idea how to hook up the system!

Oh, can we get the details or, are they "off limits"?
Never thought I'd meet someone during a pandemic, but it happened. We actually met when she was my student ...What!? We started seeing one another over a year after she graduated, though. She was an older student, so we are close in age and both separated with kids. So we have a lot in common. Things look very promising.
