It's an amp bolted into a cabinet right? Sounds like a combo to me!No, I tend to agree with you on this one, GP. Again, quite similar to the Markbass combos which we welcome here anytime. It's just this debate has reared itself in the past and I just want to head it off at the pass. I'd love for Mutha's combo to be part of our gang. It'll offer us instant street cred with Aged Horse!
After all, any combo can have the amp removed. Some just don't go back in very well, and may result in irreparable damage.
Well, there was the time I took my tiny GK MB150E112 to an audition and found it was a loud rock band with agro drummer. I think I had the little thing cranked to 9 out of 10 for that session.
Granting that I'm an olde phart, I've never understood rehearsing in the garage at stadium levels.
I’ve walked away from a couple bands for that reason. I prefer that the music be more important than the sound pressure.

Yeah, I’m just weird that way.
Our group rarely rehearses, but on those occasions, smallest amps, and drummer brings snare, hi-hat and one other cymbal. We wanna learn a tune not have a "performance".
Over in the Rumble Club most fan questions are, "Is there a fan? I don't hear anything." And the answer is, "Yes, there is."

So many good tones I get out of my Elf. And seriously considering recording my next video from its DI. What it appears to me is this Trace combo fills a space I'd like to see shared by a Vox combo that is (to my knowledge) not even vaporware. A lightweight combo that can really hang in there — even in a monitor role with FoH doing the heavy lifting — has my attention. And more than once considered a Trace Elliot Transit B as an alternative to the VT Bass.
... it's just that I can't resist a cranked SVT and fridge at low volume with the VT Bass. Records great. Full-on neck pickup on the Chowny CHB-1, Low Tension Flats, and got some thumpin' going on

A few times a year someone comes in to remark we aren't talking about combos
. Yah, then some try to move the "goal posts" .I'm super impressed. I plugged in my new AP-5 with pretty hot active EMGd and gave it hell and it spit it back. My eyes still burn. It's very capable of various tones too. I haven't plugged in my board yet but I can go vintage to modern with the simple EQ it has.

It's about 3 o'clock on the bass when something kicks in with my configuration. Mostly I play with low gain and high volume. Gain around noon and something different is happening (and I like that too).
Oh wow, I cranked the volume but left gain around 9 o'clock. For the scoop the bass and treble were like 3-4 and midi brought back to about 10:30. Then I did some mid forward. Rolled off treble to about 10 and bumped bass and mids to 2ish.
Looks like my(2)Bassman(s)-that I shouldn't have sold.
