To hear tell, wedding function bands see more fights break out than biker bar bands. If anything, bikers don't want the music to stop. On the other hand, bikers are going to be particular about what they want to hear ... uh same as the wedding party. Given the choice of gigs ... bikers aren't going to want to hear The Chicken Dance. In the 70s we did a ship sp? load of weddings. Never had a request for the Chicken Dance. Lotta Conga Lines and Horas though.
Most requested first dance-"We've Only Just Begun"(Carpenters-for you younger folk)

Most definitely. We were doing a gig one night and a guy asks me if we know "Unchained Melody". Whenever someone asks if we do something that isn't part of our regular song list(I can't spell 'repertoire')**, I always say "we haven't done that for awhile, we'll see", rather than saying "no".* Then we talk it over real quick to see if any of us knows it. I happen to know the lyrics to "Unchained" and the 2 guitar men can play damn near anything. We did it and it turned out it was their wedding song and it was their anniversary. Got a pretty decent tip outta that one.

*I do most of our announcements so people come to me-sometimes while I'm singing. I point to one of the other guys.

When I started using my GK on gigs and practices, I had to also pack a folding stool.

There certainly are standards and engineering adheres to the standards. Marketing departments ignore them, though. We engineers are tired of getting cranky (and fired) about it.

Ah, and while marketing may be a boon for some of you.....I was a Highway Design Coordinator (in charge of implementing State and Fed design standards for highway safety - for a Big left coast state....our engineering department was often referred to as the biggest engineering entity in the world)...well at my level, I got to work with Higher-Ups that either were or wanted to be politicians. When development $ start entering the picture, safety standards sometimes seemed to be in the way. Very frustrating. After I retired, early, one of my fellow coordinators threw in the towel when politicians went over his head to the Director and Feds.....
