Looks like another EWS to me. I just learned that peak power for an amp is 2 x RMS, while peak power for a speaker is 4 x RMS! But, anyways, who wants just average power when you can have peak power, or burst power, or even burst peak power!!

Why, sure there is! But, instead of "Everything You Need to Know ...", I'd entitle this one "A Beginner's Guide to ..."

Orange OBC-112 400-watt 1x12" Bass Cabinet - Black. $529/ea

These cabs are only 26 pounds each. 400 watts RMS/ea. So quite easy to carry and 2 can handle a Rumble 800 head. If I was playing out I'd check these out.

Now I know you prefer the 15, and I love my R200 15 inch speaker. Fat and round. However, that extra 8 pounds for the R200 is quite a bit more to handle these days.

I’m going to look in to the Orange Terror a few people mentioned here. Orange has never been on my radar. That was what some guitar players used back in the day (or was that Sunn?) But if I were to pick up a just a head to match my back ported Ampeg 115 cab it may be the ampeg PF500 or the Rumble heads. But I don’t think I’m gonna go that route.

I’m also going to look at an HPF that @SoulReflection and others mentioned. That sounds really interesting. And makes sense. And that advice is from real world experience. I love this forum for exactly that kind of real world advice!

I think I’m going to pull the trigger on the RB115. I’ve been staring at it since before release. Let’s just say I’m a sucker for pretty 15s. I loved my 15” Hartke cab I had in the 90s. I loved my Traynor 400 W Mono block B I had in the 70s & 80s with the matching dual ported cab with back firing 18” (or was it 20”) speaker with two 8” speakers (or were they 6”) on the front baffle! But that rig weighed a million pounds!

I think the RB115 will be fine for me. It’s good to hear you @iagtrplyr like yours and others here too. At this point in my life I’m not expecting to be doing large gigs. Just small to medium bars. (Outdoor gigs would be direct in to a PA anyway and then my amp becomes a stage monitor for me right?) At 34 lbs I could carry the RB115 in one hand (my good hand) and have a backpack on my back with all that extra stuff (an HPF? Cables. Power conditioner etc.) and my bass in a gig bag in my bad hand. One trip! In and out!

Fantastic, glad we could guide you a bit. You will not feel buyer's remorse for any of the products you mentioned. Let me prove to you through the use of photography what I mean. I know they talk about me behind my back for all the gear I buy, but this is the reason I do it. I'm a walking billboard! Plus, if they don't like it, let them eat cake and carry around Peavey combos for the rest of their days!

Here's the Terror Bass, Morrighan's love, with either an Ampeg PF-115 or 210...I can't remember, I had both. More mids than a lot of heads and grindy if you want it. I play it clean and it's beautiful. Tube preamp, lightweight, 250 watts @ 8 ohms, and a true novelty!

Here it is with my current Fender Rumble 115. Sweet!

This is my rocket Bass 112, the baby brother to Tele's (and maybe yours) 115. what can I say, it's all Ampeg. The tone, the looks, and because of the Fender Rumble line destroying everyone else's sales for the past hundred years, it is now lighter than a feather compared to their previous BA line. winner winner, chicken dinner!

The Broughton HPF pedal is a must if you like your bass less boomy and love for your amp to live long and prosperous. For a Franklin, you can get this one, but for thirty less you can grab an always-on micro that does the same thing minus the knob. Regardless of whatever else you buy, grab one of these and run it right off your bass.

This may be sacrilege but I don’t like pedals for my bass. Man that’s a rabbit hole you never return from. However. That Broughton HPF seems like a great idea so I will get one and check it out. I like the idea of always on. I would attach it to my amp securely and have a short 1’ cable to the input of my amp and out of there to my bass.

I’m thinking maybe Velcro @GonePlaid. They have some strong stuff out these days. Kinda locks in. In that way you could move from Rumble to Rumble?
