The Combo Club

The Thing That's Going Around hits hard. About three weeks to full recovery for a breakthrough case is my personal take. Takes me two weeks to begin to practice my bass again, with only a week to prepare and record

one take :D

You know @Morrighan it appears in the video pic that you are below the 5th fret! Didn't you say recently there's no money down there!
Happy to hear your feeling better!

Fender Rumble 500C
When I need more I add a BFM 1x15 Simplex that's loaded with a Eminence neo 3015. All the rig I've needed.

Hey, yo, slutty! That's a great looking rig. The BFM looks a lot better with the matching grille cloth than the metal grille you showed in The Rumble Club. ;)

Say, if you're interested in joining this merry band o' Comboites* we'd be glad to have you! Just be aware that our beloved Fearless Leader requires your explicit intent of so joining. But, relax, it's not a solemn oath or pledge signed in blood, or anything. He just wants to be sure you really want a Club number before he hauls out his Big, Beautiful Book of Numbers to issue you one. So, if you just say you'd like to join he'll fix you right up.

Has anyone noticed, the FL has been missing for 6 days in a row :nailbiting:

Wow! Is that what they call a "million million" or even a "trillion"? Well, he's certainly worth at least that much, especially in view of the currently tanked currency exchange rate of the smackeroon and today's inflation! Isn't that what a Starbucks Grande Vente Half-Caff Decaf Double Pumpkin Hold-The-Spice Arabica Mocha Non-Dairy Latte Frappu-Krappa-Ding-Dong-Lolly Whipped Espresso Plain costs right now, without any of the extra options? :woot:

I mean, yeah! Lemme check my sofa cushions for loose change and we might can double the reward! ;)

There must be coin beyond the fifth fret because this morning I found 50 cents in a pocket as I put my summer things away.

Putting the summer things away! Ugh. 6 months of winter of this. I've been putting that off as I close up the outside of the house. Guess I'll do that today. The only question remaining is do I HAVE To cut the grass one more time or is that done for the season. Seems to have stopped growing...

The coldest and wettest event I can recall ... among the coldest and wettest events in life ... is a Beltane ceremony at Rothcroughan. Daresay it was life-altering.

Next cross-quarter is a week away, then headlong into solstice. First day of spring (will check the exact time) is around February 2.

Out here, if ya don't water the grass, it don't grow...some you don't, some you do .

And we wouldn’t mind pix!

There's something my two combos have the not-a-combo I use doesn't have, and only noticed the importance of that somewhere around [now].
Philosophical conversation about "now" auto-refers to "Spaceballs"

Right. Notice for the first time the Stingray's output is so hot I can use the active input settings on the Ampeg BA108v2+ and PJB BG-400.

That's impressive to me because the Ray's output was progressively lower and lower over the last n years. Kind of did and kind of did not notice until lower and lower output becomes Goose Egg output. The nature of the 7ender Reveal of the reborn bass is clear when I switch from one of the passive basses.

And noticed Another Thread about backup basses — yes, right here on TB people are talking about whether to take a backup bass to a gig, I know, right?

So very easy to take two basses, an active and a passive, or an electric and a UB ...

Howdy all! I’ve been out of the loop here for a while, haven’t had a combo since I let my Rumble 500 go… but today I received my Ampeg RB112 and so far all I can say is wow, what a great sound! I’ve been playing through it with my PBass all evening and it really feels like I’m hearing the tone from my head finally. This sounds “right”. Great sounding little combo and it looks great too!

You're right, Gus, it is a good one. And so easy to carry around, you won't even mind those small gigs or practices where you can put it to good use. Enjoy the heck out of it.

Now I think we've gone over this, but do you need a membership number? I thought you mentioned you had one, but I can't find it in my records. Were you under another name or am I just missing you? Trust me, it's easy for me to not see a name. Let me know because I've got a big, fat, juicy number waiting for you if ya need it! FL

It's not like most of these combos exist in a vacuum (though I wouldn't put it past a couple of you). They're part of a system that includes musician, bass[es][1], effects, PA, other musicians, room or outdoor acoustics, money, and so much more.

[1] Preferably Thunderbird

But Miles, it's the COMBO CLUB, not the "musician, basses, effects, PA, other musicians, room or outdoor acoustics, money club." We talk about all those things but tend to focus on the combos in our lives. As far as a vacuum, yes, I happen to live in the spacious climes of an Amperex Bugle Boy 12AX-7. It can be a bit cramped, but the Mrs. and I enjoy its warm glow in the evening along with the smooth highs it offers. :smug:

That bass is living with me for more than 25 years, I should ask when did you have the opportunity to interbreed it with one of your basses ?

Okay okay, this is a family forum. Keep the fraternization of your basses in the pages where belongs, Playbass magazine. Sheesh, the next you know a P-bass will be tailgating a T-bird...:nailbiting:
