Mowed the lawn this afternoon. Hope it's the last time until spring.

My lawn mower ran out of gas the last time I cut. Literally just as I got the last patch. So it was a hard call. Put more gas in and hit it one more time then go through the pain of having to empty it. Or just hope it stops where it is. Well I hung the lawn mower up today and fired up the snowblower. Well see how it goes.

I live in a small castle of Mullards, myself. Favorite room is the turret at the top of one of the EL84s. Room 6BQ5, you know.

When I started out, there were only combos. They were what all players used because amps were fairly compact. Combos evolved. In 1960 Ampeg released the B-15 Portaflex. I’ve always considered it a combo. The head was permanently attached to a lid that fitted into the top of the cabinet.

Later came what they called Piggyback amps. This was a separate amp and cab. My 1959 Bassman 410 is one heavy amp. It was a welcome relief when the amp and cab were separated. Sometimes the amp had hardware to attach it to the cab. Fender had theirs but other makes did the same thing. Danelectro (Silvertone) was one. I used an open back 215 Silvertone, the head slid into the bottom for storage, otherwise there were latches for the head when it was placed on top of the cabinet. Interestingly, it had the same suitcase latches that Ampeg used with the B-15.

Despite these changes, combos have always been available since they were first introduced. They have proven to be very well liked.

I’d go borrow the wife’s eyebrow tweezers and finish ‘er up, MF, but that’s just me...

Here's my addition to the club. My 2009 Acoustic B100. Was it overpriced for what it was when I bought it in 09? yeah. But I've always found a use for it and managed to get a good sound out of it. It's a 1 x 15 so it actually moves a good amount of air and sounds bigger than you would expect.

To get to my sound I use my Sansamp clone and with some gain to hit the preamp a bit harder. After about an hour of playing the overdrive really starts to thicken and some trebley bite tends to come through. It's a very good underrated amp, that I won't be able to part with any time soon.

Why come does The LizardKing gets 2 numbers?!? Huh? It's not fair. Yeah, sure, I love his work with The Doors, and all, but does that entitle him to be #165 and #265 both? Especially when Ray's left hand played most of his basslines for him so he could go coil & slither around the mic stand? I dunno.

Otherwise, I think we should all get 2 numbers and I hereby pre-order #357 to match my previous #57. Ooo! Ooo! Ooo! We can instantly double the membership by adding 100, 200 or 300 to all previous member numbers!! Hey, whaddaya say, Fearless Leader? You could retire instantly with over 500 members!
