Music theory. If I had it to do all over again I would stay with the lessons I started when I was 12 (60 now) and I would switch from 6 strings to 4. As it was I hated my guitar teacher. He used to paint his shoes a different color everyday! For some unknown reason that bothered me lol. And I didn’t want to learn no stinkin’ Jingle Bells! I wanted to play me some Beatles! When I went to return the guitar he said your never gonna be Elvis. And I said I don’t wanna be Elvis and walked out! :)

When I started lessons he gave me a gorgeous guitar and said this is a better guitar than normally comes with the lessons. I didn’t believe him. (only after a lifetime of purchasing over 60 guitars and basses do I know he wasn’t lying about wish I had that acoustic today!) you had to take the lessons for a year for the guitar to become yours! I didn’t make it! Looking back that was a great deal!
Anyway. 48 years later. I’m self taught and kicking myself. And I’m an old dog that doesn’t wanna learn new tricks. :( (Or maybe am afraid I’ll just end up confusing this old brain of mine)

So to you young people out there lean some theory! Go as far as you can! That’s my two cents…..

Rick Beato posted a recent (last week) digest of music theory in ten minutes. It’s not comprehensive but a beautifully presented syllabus of the subject.

As a kid we chose from 8-, 10- and 12-ounce drinks. You could still often find the 6-1/2 ounce bottles in vending machines at gas stations. The 16-ounce bottle was introduced in 1955 but was rarely seen until the mid-60s. Now there’s no small size being sold and the “medium” is big enough to fill with soapy water and wash a compact car. I mostly decline combos if I get roped into fast food drive-throughs.

More dignified? I'm sure Admiral Hood would agree, but I think him an odd figure to name something cool after. Should have gone back to the original name - Labeasche River.

The best name are oft malleable. Nowhere, perhaps, is that more obvious than Texas, where "Pedernales" (which should be "Ped ehr nahl' ays") is pronounced more like "Pert N Alice".
