The Combo Club

I went to McD's yesterday...the first time in over a year. Big Mac, med. fries and drink = $9.60. Guess it's COVID Inflation. If I am going to pay that much, I should eat healthy :D.

@SoulReflection i think McDonald’s has forgotten who they are! Or maybe my retirement isn’t keeping up with the world!
I can get better food at Chipotle or Salsarita’s or Moes for that kind of money. Don’t get the pop! (Sorry soda for some of you ;)) that’s the killer!

And btw I was on a diet about 15 years ago and every Friday I would treat myself to Mickey Ds. (I lost 60lbs btw) and My diet was counting calories. So I started ordering Big Macs with no Mac Sauce. Saved like 150 calories lol. But I only eat it that way now when I rarely get a Big Mac. It taste better in my view without the Mac sauce.

My stomach just doesn’t want me to eat there these days I guess that’s one good thing about a bad stomach.

This is my third journey through Ari Cap's Music Theory for the Bass Player. Asked if I would coach the winter, then the summer cohort too — which makes me a coach, not a bass monster — I accepted.

It's with a certain awareness that a coach's video submission might approach okay-ness that I take some care with the material. The videos, I find, are a powerful learning tool. As a student at MI, Tim Bogart told us practice in front of a mirror. Forty years later I watch (and learn from) videos of myself, and now I practice in front of my Webcam :wacky:

That former occupation included teaching (and too many other things to list). My job on site is complete when the client understands what I put in place. That's a very wide range to cover, and no mean diplomacy ... when the publisher takes me out for dinner, I go in the knowledge that I am the main course ...

All transferable skills for music!

Wait'll you see the cost of eating 'healthy'!

Eating fast food is a way of life for some, I notice. It makes me ill. Not the :vomit: lose the contents of my stomach ill, but the I feel off kind of ill. It's just kind of unpleasant, so I take notice when for no good reason I suddenly desire a fast food cheeseburger o_O ... sometimes it hits the spot :wacky:
but best avoided IMO

yeah food is more expensive than not very long ago, or the same price but packaged in smaller amounts ....

I think if I were 12 today and started lessons I would stay with it. With YouTube videos and tab and just the teachers today are better at making it interesting for a kid. They may teach you some theory but then also show you a power chord to have some fun with. That’s the carrot that I needed dangled that wasn’t.
Yeah, I can relate. Even though I had started in 4th grade elementary school band (clarinet, I wanted alto sax but was overruled by my parents), there was no real push from anyone (not even the teachers) to show the extraordinary possibilities of music. It wasn’t till 8th grade and I switched to bari sax did things open up. Had a very hip stage band teacher who showed me a lot and how each instrument interacted in the whole scheme. That second part was very important in my development.

They haven't forgotten. They don't give a ratz@$$.

Pop/soda...originally from Canada, I use them interchangeably. I was lazy and did drive thru. Got medium because small wasn't an option. First Coke in over a year and most of it was thrown away.
I almost feel sorry for the young people taking orders. "I'd like a small coke"*. "We have medium, large, and extra large". "I want a small coke. I don't give a ____ what you call it. The smallest you have." Tip: if you're inside, get the smallest/cheapest they offer. And refill it as many times as you want to(<preposition).

* or whatever beverage

Once Ray Kroc bought it from the McDonald brothers it was no longer about good food, it was all about meeting customer expectations. The place was consistently clean, staff well organized and you generally got freshly made food that was the same in every store. Kroc developed the french fry scoop that speeds things along while filling each bag just alike, he and his minions designed the ketchup and mustard dispensers for the same reasons. It’s the model for what the record companies did to “popular music.”

That topic sets me into [OLD GUY MODE]: in my youth small, medium and large were 8, 10, and 12 ounces. In fact, 6-1/2 ounce bottles were still common in the old chest-type vending machines at gas stations and general stores away from the cities. A cup of coffee was 5 or 6 ounces and it was freshly made so it tasted like coffee! [/OLD GUY MODE]

... when your medical history looks like a CVS receipt
CVS?? I spent 6 months aboard CVS-10.
