I found myself, where do I collect the Smackeroons? Joke's on you Swinky, I've been holding out waiting for your more-than-considerate APB (all-points bulleting for those of you on the Continent) so I could collect the reward. Next time, I'll disappear for a month. That's got to be worth at least two mil!
Thanks for worrying about me. It was a deadly combination of C-vid recovery, in which I still can't taste or smell) and 21 of 22 conferences in about a week. Good news though, I'm about back even with the rest of the herd and played live bass with a human (the Rev came back for one final vacation fling) last night. So I hope to be back more often, but with my predecessor-to-be, swink, doing such a good job of posting rewards, I may take time off over the holidays!

The Thing That's Going Around hits hard. About three weeks to full recovery for a breakthrough case is my personal take. Takes me two weeks to begin to practice my bass again, with only a week to prepare and record

Hey, yo, slutty! That's a great looking rig. The BFM looks a lot better with the matching grille cloth than the metal grille you showed in The Rumble Club.

Here's my addition to the club. My 2009 Acoustic B100. Was it overpriced for what it was when I bought it in 09? yeah. But I've always found a use for it and managed to get a good sound out of it. It's a 1 x 15 so it actually moves a good amount of air and sounds bigger than you would expect.
Here it is in practice:
To get to my sound I use my Sansamp clone and with some gain to hit the preamp a bit harder. After about an hour of playing the overdrive really starts to thicken and some trebley bite tends to come through. It's a very good underrated amp, that I won't be able to part with any time soon.

haha well if you're looking at the gain knob ... I've never hit the clipping limit with my passive basses. Ever. Max the gain and it's still as clean as a perfect metaphor. A little on the master, adjust to taste ....
What I find useful is the DI on the PJB is not master dependent. Turn off the master for silent recording. Which is precisely what I do.

... As far as a vacuum, yes, I happen to live in the spacious climes of an Amperex Bugle Boy 12AX-7. It can be a bit cramped, but the Mrs. and I enjoy its warm glow in the evening along with the smooth highs it offers.
So that's where you were hiding the past week!
I live in a small castle of Mullards, myself. Favorite room is the turret at the top of one of the EL84s. Room 6BQ5, you know.

When I started out, there were only combos. They were what all players used because amps were fairly compact. Combos evolved. In 1960 Ampeg released the B-15 Portaflex. I’ve always considered it a combo. The head was permanently attached to a lid that fitted into the top of the cabinet.
Later came what they called Piggyback amps. This was a separate amp and cab. My 1959 Bassman 410 is one heavy amp. It was a welcome relief when the amp and cab were separated. Sometimes the amp had hardware to attach it to the cab. Fender had theirs but other makes did the same thing. Danelectro (Silvertone) was one. I used an open back 215 Silvertone, the head slid into the bottom for storage, otherwise there were latches for the head when it was placed on top of the cabinet. Interestingly, it had the same suitcase latches that Ampeg used with the B-15.
Despite these changes, combos have always been available since they were first introduced. They have proven to be very well liked.
