Has anyone used this head with a fEarful/nEarful cab?

I haven't yet but we are having the Minnesota GTG in a couple weeks and one of the guys has one. I'm sure my 100t will get passed around like a drunk party girl so I will be able to hear it through a lot of different cabs. I use 2 TL-606 cabs with 3015's and it is sweet.

Can any of you ther 100T owners give me some advice, as this is my first tube head I wanna make sure I look after it and use it properly.

1. Is there any way I should use the volume and master controls in particular? At the last gig I had the vintage channel volume on about 6 and the master on the same. Is there any rule like the master volume should be higher or vice versa?

2. I have noticed after using the the amp for two full gigs that the large 6L6 tubes have some black staining at the bottom on the grey bits (burning I guess) I assume this is normal once the amp starts to get used regularly?
1. If you want more dirt from the preamp, turn the gain up more and use your master to set the volume. If you want maximum clean tone, turn your master up more and use your gain to set volume.

2. Don't worry about your tubes unless they start to act up. That's more than likely burn marks, but not a big deal. Tubes get used, stuff heats up...happens.

Wow... I'm that guitar player who is obsessed with tone, who's been at The Gear Page for quite some years now, tone seeking for eternity, who ended up playing bass this year and got into an active band in my hometown. This has taken me to do some intense research about bass gear, and men I was so disappointed since it seems bass players are not that into good/quality sound/gear, most of them will just play through any amp. And there seems to be very few quality products, just to make it even worse.

And then I found this amp and I just gotta say I'm totally obsessed!! I gotta buy it as soon as I can... I'm GONNA buy it as soon as I can. Kudos for Fender for manufacturing this one... it's perfect for my needs as a musician, and as the obsessed human being I am haha.

Thanks for all your insights, comments, and common thoughts about the amp. Enough talk, enough research... gotta stop until i get crazy... my brain needs some rest.

Has anyone had a chance to A/B the 100T with the Aguilar 750/751?

Not a/b directly, no, but I have played through all 3. Total apples/oranges situation! The 2 Aggies are very similar (naturally), built for power and headroom with huge bottom. The Fender 100t is built purposefully with less power so you max out headroom quicker. I like both types, but this is like comparing a Hummer to a VW Bug- both get the job done fine, but are 2 totally different ways to 'bring home the groceries'!

I'm curious what specifically you're looking to contrast?

Speaking about cabs........

I have a Fender Bassman Pro 115 NEO on order. I read one comment about the cab that was not very complimentary.

However, it seems to me that these cabs are just starting to become available. I've only seen one place in the USA that had ONE in stock. It was The Bass Place and it was a cab used at Winter NAMM.

I'm wondering if there are any others out there who have had a chance to play through the Bassman 115 NEO?

Check comment #63 in this thread.

I run my 100T with a Fender Neo 410. The first three jams I was happy but not blown away...About three weeks into playing with this setup something clicked...it now blows me away and it is the best setup I've ever owned. I'm not sure if the speakers broke in or even what that means but something happened and its freaking great.

Same here. I have the same rig, and even though I've loved it from the start, something happened on my 3rd or 4th gig with it and it seemed to come to life. I thought maybe the tubes finally got properly burned in, but it may be a combination of that and the speakers finally limbering up? Whatev's, the rig is far and away my favorite of all that I've owned. I'm playing the largest venue yet with it this Saturday, so can't wait to really open it up and see what happens.

Yeah I run it with my Modulus (VJ or Funk) with the Modern channel Gain and Blend at 6. That coupled with my POG and Steel Leather running at all times it just sounds massive :) Very Caleb Scofield like.

Thanks for the replies.....while the 115 is not a 410 it is encouraging to know you like your cabs and I should expect some type of break-in period.

I'll be running an Ashdown LB through the cab which I believe will sound awesome....similar to running the 100T @ 25w. We'll see.

Of course the GAS is already building to match the cab with it's intended mate....a 100T! :help:

The 610 Neo is the best "any venue" cab I have owned - and I have been through more than my fair share of cabs over the years. It is lighter and easier to schlep than most other cabs (apart from the 410 and 115 neo of course) and the extra two speakers over a 410 gives it that much extra girth for real large venues over a 410 when using a 100 watt amp such as the 100T. That said, the neo 410 has the advantage that you can use it as a trolley and wheel the amp in, plus it combines the tone of the 610 with the size of a 410. Swings and roundabouts, not sure if with hindsight I would have bought the 410 considering the above but if they had been available at the time I could well have considered the versatility of two 410s. Both great cabs, just another perspective. And I know what you guys mean about the cabs suddenly sounding right, I was really unsure about my 610neo in the shop and really bought it on cosmetics more than anything as I already had the 100T but once I started gigging it it really sings.
A while ago there were a few rumours around that, due to the high cost of neodymium Fender might be dropping the neo speakers from the cab and returning to ceramic magnets. Not sure how true this is/was, although I did hear it directly from a Fender importer, but it makes sense to get in now if you want one. OTOH they might have been impressed by the positive response and decided to keep it, and production of the whole new line seems to have been slow although more are coming off the line now. Most exciting new bass line from Fender in years I reckon.
