The game has been changed.

Man, there's a whole lot of fogey-ism going on in this thread. This is just a synthesizer, but the control mechanism has been modified to make it resemble fretting and playing a guitar. Do you guys slag on everyone using a synthesizer as having no musical talent? Do you have to play crappy dad-rock to have talent? Now, if you have opinions as to whether this is a good or bad synthesizer, by all means, give your opinion. But I'm not hearing any informed opinions or criticisms with any real (*#%@# value. All I hear coming from people here is, "Hey you kids, get off my lawn!!"

I can't speak for everyone, but I'm not addressing the merits of the device, I'm responding to the post heading, "The game has been changed" and the talentless littly lacky that was wanking for the camera.

If you can make music with a tin can and a stick, more power to you. Maybe someone can make music with that device, but the video reference by the OP didn't prove anythng, let alone the changing of the game.

And by the way - GET OFF MY LAWN AND PLAY SOME BEATLES! :D

I'm definitely not shy about new technology and I think its possible not be blown away by this particular device. Synth sounds on an iPad. Okay. Neat. Is it a game changer for me? Ummm, no.

Reminds me of JP's robot music scene in Grandma's Boy

Aphex Twin

Cheers for aphex twin. But on the note of the controller looks fun, but is definitely pricey. With the standard midi bass by industrial radio being discontinued I would like to see more options coming out. Heading back to school the midi-bass pro will be out of reach for awhile.

Now off to put on the Richard D. James album by Aphex Twin.

You're leaving out that it's also a keyboard laid out like a fretboard. That is what is makes this different from the kaoss pad family of controllers. I'm actually a little meh about the touch-pad part. But for someone who really sucks at a piano keyboard layout despite years of trying to get decent at it, having it laid out like a fretboard is cool.

So I haven't checked the site for this guy yet so excuse me if this is a foolish statement but I thought these guys used an XY pad in the body, not an iPad. Am I wrong?

That being said I think this thing looks pretty cool. It would be interesting to mess around on one of these, I definitely see the potential applications of this.

I feel sorry for all these old ****s talking **** about this. Clearly the concept of sound design is very foreign to a lot of you. And shame on you for saying such negative and judgmental things about a teenager who is just exploring a new form of creation. People talked **** about picasso saying he was sloppy with no technique. This dude is just finding his voice. A lot of y'all need to grow up seriously. He's just having fun. Doesn't mean he's a piece of **** like you all are saying. He's probably pretty ****ing cool i.e. his bad ass lights and different style hoodie and his sound design in his track is pretty interesting too. expand your mind you lames. producing is ****ing hard so mad props to this dude for doing his thing. i'm so tired of reading garbage from people who think their negative opinions matter when it comes to music. everyone has different taste. except you like the taste of vinegary sac instead of new and interesting sounds. eat a dick trolls.

i..... i LOVE you. if for nothing else, just for the use of the phrase "vinegary sac". that's ****ing BEAUTIFUL.

seriously. i'm using ZERO sarcasm here. there needs to be a No Foolin' font.

i just want to carry you around in a backpack and have you whisper descriptions of everybody i walk by's genitals in my ear. you are ADORABLE.

Reminds me of the rise of the synth and how it was heralded as the "future of music" by all the music pundits.

If you remember correctly, there was a time when it was hard to find a "real" band instead of a bunch of MIDI controllers being twiddled and fiddled. I once went to a live show and watched a pedal steel player sounding like a B3 through a Leslie.

They had their day in the sun but it soon became apparent it was harder to get the "soul" of the player from a MIDI controller than it was from the actual instrument one was working so hard to sound exactly like through an electronic black box.

I watched some of the other videos and you can get tons of other sounds on this thing. The video I posted is just the tip of the iceberg. Like I said, it just looks like tons of fun. A Synth keyboard in a format we're already familiar with.

I didnt see the youtube video, but it sounds like this is a synth bass, or what?

edit: I just googled it, looks like an iPad with a neck.
