I'm so happy that you dig that bass! I'm glad it found a good home. Pete Skjold made that ramp and while it does look a little out of place in terms of woodgrain, it's really supposed to help right-hand technique. It's also is a nice distinguishing feature to make the bass stand-out ^_^

I've loved my EDB600 since the very moment I saw it........ and so I had to go with the 605 when it was time for a 5ver.
And I'm lovin' the "no fingerprints tough as nails" grey finish.
Somebody asked me "geez, you spent all that money on a guitar that looks just like your old one? why?".
Um..... 'cause it was real tough to add the 5th string to the old one???

The sound of this bass, acoustically and plugged in, is really nice. I'd describe it mostly as being really fat, with amazing sustain. The bass definately doesn't have a super snappy and aggressive sound like a musicman or a warwicky growl, but it instead has a really strong fundamental, great sustain, a slightly compressed sound, and a natural sounding high end. The neck sounds really fat and smooth, while the bridge sounds similar but punchier, and the two together have a very nice, full range sound. The EQ is well voiced and quiet, and the switchable mids has turned out to be a really useful feature so far. Fingerstyle tones are fat and punchy, and slap tones are pretty thick, but you can dial in some nice zing as well. Chords sound amazing and rich, with great sustain and definition.

Overall, a great bass. Boutique-y features and sound, at a production price. And thanks to Marcus Allen for being a standup guy as a seller.

I'd say that's a pretty accurate description of the sound, cpach. :cool: (I bought a 1205e in January.)

I think the neck pup can give a very convincing P-bass tone, which can go from a very warm Pre-CBS tone, to a brighter, more modern tone with the help of that 3 position midrange switch.

I love mine. Good luck with yours. ;)

Hey Marcus, I just got got married to my BTB1206e last wednesday... phew... she's superb!!!!, quality and cost ratio! I flirt with different 6strings before I decided to get my baby! I even chose her over Warwick's Streamer stage1. I liked the sound of warwick but I did'nt sound good playing it the way I play because it is so hard for me to handle because I got small hands and it has huge neck, I mean huge....

Then I saw the btb on ibby's site. At first I just told my self, I'll just get this one to practice on 6 string then dump her and eventually get a warwick when I get better making love with a 6. ahahaha

But hey, When I tried the BTB I even forgot that I'm playing with 2 extra strings, my hands just relates with her, their like soul mates...haha (Maybe because I am using my good old Ibanez SB1200 as my main bass since I played on all my session bands.) And She's soooooooooooo sexy with those curves.

So I decided, me and Ibanez have this undeniable understanding. It's like that I was born to belong to Ibanez. So I asked her to marry me and my card says 'yes' eheheh.....

SO we're really happy!

But shhhh... don't tell her, im still gassing for the warwick infinity 5string, it's just gonna be a fling... I'd always be in love with my baby and commited... it's just that i'm just human, and I just can't get enough. I think she won't mind, it'll be a 3some...eheheh...

Long Live to Ibanez!!!

Original black pickguard replaced with home-made clear one.

so i have an ibanez sr400. and it has great action, great playability, and it looks cool too. thing is, it sounds wayy too high-midrangey unless i turn the bass on the 3-band eq all the way up. then it sounds amazing, EXCEPT such high eq causes unwanted distortion.

would switching the pickups and eq be a good idea in this situation. the acoustic sound is good. and i think that perhaps it is not the bass itself which is lacking in.. bass. but the electronics.
