You can get the Kustom Groove 1200/310 combo at MF.com for 499.00 bucks now. It's a sick deal, all 1200w go to the internal speakers! It's heavy but to compensate it comes with a pull-out handle and built-in wheels. It's may the world's mightiest combo!
GET IT NOW cuz soon they'll be gone.

great tone.. makes my ashdown sound really sterile and lifeless.

i think it's from either the late 70s or early 80s. anyone know where i can find out what year it was made?

I have this same cab. Thinking about putting a kappalite 3015 in there.

Anybody know if this cab's design is based on the TL606?

Your Kustom was made from about late 1976 (approx SN 150000)to about 1980 (approx SN 240000).

well the cab's sn is 137154 which i guess makes it older than 76(?), and the head's sn is 195436 which i would suppose puts it right in the middle (78ish?).

on the back of the head there's a "speaker" out and a "line out" can the line out be used for a second cab should i decided to add one? (and i know that the current speaker is probably 4ohms so i'd have to replace it with an 8ohm speaker to do this) or is the line out just the pre-amp? anyone know?

The SN date range I posted is for Kustom amps.
For Kustom speakers, add about 45,000 - so your cabinet SN 137154 would have been produced about the same time as an amp head with SN 182xxx.
The "line-out" is to connect to another amplifier (it will not power a speaker.)

Hi,
If you have a multimeter, measure the impedance of your cabinet.
If not, it might give the ohms on back of the speaker.
If it is 8 ohms, you can add another 8 ohm cabinet.
If it is 4 ohms, you can add a 4 ohm (or 8 ohm) cabinet, but you can't use the amp's speaker jack as it is - you have to wire the 2 speaker systems in series.

i took the back panel off the cab, the speaker is 4 ohms as i suspected. i don't know how to wire anything in series versus parallel or whatever, but i'm not gonna worry about that now cuz it's loud enough atm. ... just need to figure out how to stop the amp from channeling rouge radio stations on the "high" input :p

"just need to figure out how to stop the amp from channeling rouge radio stations on the high input".

- By any chance, has the ground lug been cut off of the A/C plug? -if it has put on a 3 prong plug - that might help.
- Also, try plugging in to a different wall outlet.
- Also, try a different guitar cord.
- If your cord is coiled, that could cause it to pick up radio stations.

yea i went out and bought some snap on things from radio shack that were recommended by someone in another thread. seems to have done the trick.

No photos. May I join? I am the original owner of a 1971 Kustom B-200 head and 2X 15 CTS cabinet. When I bought mine, I was young and not knowledgeable, or I would have prefered the JBL option in '71. Anyhow, I was thrilled to hear quality sounds, compared to Bassman amps I had previously used. Long story short: As long as I was playing up against a Fender Super, or similar, I was fine, but as soon as guitarists bought Marshalls, I was never heard again. Anything beyond half volume and the distortion was/is awful. As I have read in your posts...breaking-up. In '74, I bought my Acoustic 370 head and the CTS cab sounded fine. I have also used a Furman pq 3 in front and was actually asked to turn down. Is it the head or the cabinet that needs upgrading? I have heard that Kustoms have an inherent problem with output electronics?...or do I need to buy 2-15" JBLs , to solve the problem. In a recent gig, I was up against 2 small..tiny.. class-A amps and the Kustom sounded awful, unless I turned the bass tone @ 1/2. Any more and I had more distortion than Jack Bruce or Felix Pappalardi would appreciate. I just think that the Kustom should be able to hold it's own. I have read so many stories about how loud 200's are. At home jam volume, it's fine ( 9 o'clock ) but mine always sounds terrible when cranked, whereas the volume would be unbearable, yet clear with the Acoustic 370. Any advice? P.S I would still rate my old Kustom work horse at a 9-out-of 10. I gigged with it for years in a country band, against a Super, Hammond , drums and P.A Thanks.... Sonus6c-f.
