Saw this nice video that Rob uploaded today. He does a good job of talking about the finish used on this neck, and thought it was worth sharing.

Had a RARE day off today... Found some tape, and black paint.

Sorry for not commenting anything lately but as many of you know I'm moving homes and finally I'll be in my new home this week. I've made my kitchen fully functional and I've got some basic heating which will do for the moment. The weather is slowly getting better and thus favorable in the sense that I won't need to spend a fortune on heating.
Still need to make a functional bathroom with a shower being priority one on my list of to-do things. Won't be too much of a problem though, I've got everything I need for that.
Basses are still packed and will be for the time being, some other priorities on the list go first. Hurts a little bit not to be able to play but I know in the end I'll have a smashing studio, so patience my dear Watson

Well I finally did it, no I didn't buy a new bass... last week I actually jumped to live in my new (100+ year old) home.Sorry for not commenting anything lately but as many of you know I'm moving homes and finally I'll be in my new home this week. Yesterday I cleaned up the old home, now ready to be handed over to the owner.
Last months have been very hectic trying to get to this point but from now on things will calm down.
Next is making a functional bathroom, priority 1. After that I should clean up the studio room so I can plan what I'm going to put where. Remove boxes and cases that shouldn't be there and move the 19" rack from my work-room to the studio. That would be an advance in getting some stuff working to maybe some day plug in a bass and make some noise.
My building projects are of course suspended and probably won't restart until this summer. Great thing is I've got absolutely everything here to finish the works including a new spray booth.
13 days without a working bathroom during home renovations sounds pretty tough!!! hope you’re holding up well, congrats on the home purchase that’s excellent news!
I want in! Mostly because at some point I wanna show off my own mediocre builds/mods (should I ever get around to undertaking them. Soon!)

Is you Hello Kitty for sale? I don't think I've ever seen a bass quite like it, and to take that bass onto a stage and play heavy stoner with it would kind of give me a kick. I love the way it looks. Come to think of it, I've always had a thing for Hello Kitty. You can call me weird.

I'd never really thought about it. While I rarely pick it up, I'm rather proud of it, and am loathe to part with it.It's a Harley Benton passive clone. MB4? I bought it for €35 used. It was already plaid when I got it. It is not light, weighing in at 11.7 lbs/5.3 kg. I have not been able to adjust the neck: the adjustment nut hole is stripped round, and I'm lazy. The bass is tuned BEAD. The pickup is wired both coils in series, with kill switch between the coils, hooked to a generic P Bass harness. The rest is stickers. I've sunk maybe €60 or €70 - plus my time - into it for BEAD strings, switch, harness, and stickers.
Here's the back:
I won't ship, so you'd have to come to Ingleheim (near Mainz). About 400 km each way. I will keep this in consideration should you actually be serious.
To sum up, while the individual parts were inexpensive, I find the completed whole unique and priceless. It's my baby!
All that being said, if you really want to buy my Stingkitty, my condolences, and what would you think is fair? I really don't want to sell it, but if the price is right...

Amazing, just amazing! Yes I would be interested to buy, but have ZERO idea what the price would need to be. Furthermore I'm in the process of redesigning my pedalboard and that costs money. But don't sell it to anyone else, keep it some more and I'll will definitely get back to you. I like it and I think it's the best ever. Keep you posted. Here's some of my favorite Kitty memes....

I've got 3 basses that I've been "building" for over two years. They're quite dusty from neglect.
The Stingkitty was straight up serendipity on how it came together; things just fell into place, starting with a cheap bass in red/white plaid that practically fell into my lap. I don't think I could produce a copy "cheaply."
First I'd have to buy a bass and paint it. Unless I just left it mono white, or mono red. But that's not a copy, that's an interpretation. Either way, it's guaranteed to be more expensive than the original.
Also, there's no reason he couldn't do something like this on his own. He can make one that is uniquely his, and know the joy from making it with his own hands, rather than paying me to make a carbon copy/interpretation of my vision. It's basically just stickers I found on eBay, after all. They were not expensive.
But, as always, if someone is willing to press sufficient cash into my hand, all things are possible. Fair warning: I may be a ho, but I'm not a crack ho. I cost. Bigly.
EDIT: I just had a brainfart. A Flea (brand) Bass also has a round pickguard, and comes in bright primary colors. This is another possibility for a Hello Kitty bass. Instead of fleas on a cat, a cat on a flea.
I may have just farted a future project into my head!
