The Mike Lull Club Part 4

You know whats odd....I really like close spacing around 17mm......Lull says they use 19mm bridge......I measured center saddle to center saddle and its 19.5....now when you put the strings as close together as you can with it its around 18mm from center string to center string......now I had a string through with the same spacing 19mm...but when you put the strings closest together its around 17.1mm....so since I have a new lull coming friday I am going to have to order a string through bridge to get it to feel right to me! I know I mounted the the bridge through the string through holes....but those are the holes you use when mounting a non string through bridge......check out the pic they are supposed to be the same bridge just one is string through and one isnt....isnt it weird how much farther apart the non string through is?

Here's a live performance of Summertime with my fretless Lull on Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour. I frequently play the opening song for this show although lately I've been booked during tapings. This is with my wife on electric cello... she hates that thing, but it was way too hot to bring out the real thing. Nothing earth shattering, but there aren't many clips of fretless Lulls out there in the world. Fast forward to the 2 minute mark to see the tune:

I am lucky enough to get my third Lull, AMJBASS bass just sold me his unique V4 (with quilt maple top, OBP-1 and an ebony fingerboard).

I wonder what makes a bass an M4V vs V4 body size or active? Even though AMJ calls it an M4V, I'm going with V4 due to it's full size.

Nice acquisition! I'd love to see how that ebony board responds. Might be a good excuse to get together. ;)

Ok I have 2 lulls now and still no one has given me a number!!!

I put TI flats on my PJ....The PJ4 is wonderful! and would be the best bass I have ever played if it wasnt for my lull jazz....the jazz just has this something special sound and feel about it that is just like magic! I can never sell that bass ever! with the stainless on the PJ it sounded too close to the jazz...like a kinda fuller jazz bass when set in the middle.....so I had to try some TIs I had sitting around on it. pretty good but I think lulls were made for stainless! stainless Fodera are incredible on them!
with the blend all the way to the P pup and the tone almost all the way down its pretty close to a P bass! usually PJs lack a little and never quite sound like a P bass...but the lull PJ really can sound like a jazz or a P!

My Mv5 35" is my main bass.
I'm waiting on 2 more basses from Mike and crew and July could not come fast enough...:bassist::hyper::bassist:
