Look what followed me home yesterday, and even made it's gig debut last night! MV4 #1277, CAR, Bart pre. It's hot, baby! A nice addition to the family! My second Lull (the first being a totally passive PJ4).

That is beautiful... I've been GAS'in for a CAR bass for a little while now too, I was never into the color but lately it's been calling me.

The pickups are Basslines S/C Jazz, 7.2 pounds of bliss and the plex system is amazing . I'm considering lett'in goe some of my stable so I can afford a ML5 p bass.:hyper:Heres another pic.

I've been having a "dance with the one who brought you" experience lately regarding my basses. I've been trying a few different brands of basses, but lately, my M5V has been getting the work. Not only is the neck the most playable, but the sound seems to cut through a bit more, expecially since I installed the Audere preamp. I don't think I'll be having a fire sale on my other ear, though, but I'm going to spend a little more time with the M5V.

Tell you what, it makes me regret selling my V5.

I've been getting chances to play some high end basses as of late, I actually have a friend's MTD 535 here with me but I am pleased to say that the M5V still speaks to me. I feel that it sounds different but every bit as good as what I've gotten my hands on lately - Fodera, MTD, F-Bass, Ritter, Modulus, R-Bass, Benavente, LEJ, Elrick, etc. All of these are fine basses that I would love to own but I will be ok with the Lull if finances won't allow for others.

It's sometimes scary to try basses cause you can either like your current bass more or hate it after... I'm happy to be on the positive side and save some cash.

Yeah, word. But I'm happy/sad to say...I've pretty much tried them all :)

It took me a lonnnnnnnnng time to sort out that:

- I'm a 4 string guy
- I'm a 'J' guy
- I like the boutique 'vintage' thing (no MTD, Modulus, or Elrick for me, please).
- Bartolini equipped J's sound like they are running on flat tires as compared to Sadowsky, Lakland, Lull basses (to me). Nice full, punchy sound, but very muddy/flat in comparison.

Nits on Sadowsky: Reverse pan control and didn't care for the action. And that's after having pros adjust the set up. Action too high, and lowering it created too much buzz. Overall, a great bass though.

Nits on Lakland: Neck too slim/flat for me, and I don't like full-sized J bodies. Great action. The soft neck wood didn't really feel right to me. But also a great bass.

The Lull M4V just has it all right for me. Downsized body. Awesome action/feel. That creamy, yet solid feeling neck. Nice and light. Fit/finish, all tops (just like Sadowsky and Lakland). The Lindy/Bart thing really works for me ears. Crispy, vintage tones. And quite a value to boot! (Much less than the other top 2 contenders).

Boy...it's great to see so many Lull fans here. Mike actually has two of my main basses right now and will be giving the PLEK treatment to both. This will be my first experience with the PLEK, so I'm interested to see how things turn out. I should probably start a separate thread for those who are interested in the process. :bassist:
