I agree with the first part, but while my hands are also on the smaller side, I've never had any problems moving around a Sadowsky at all. The Lull necks are great tho... no doubt.

I have big hands so the 35" scale has always felt more comfortable. 34" scale feels like a toy, especially on a 24-fret instrument.
Plus I love the B string response on a 35" bass.

I know that we can discuss all day about the factors that make a good B string and all, but I feel like it's a safer bet that you'll find a good B on a 35"... So eversince I got this Lull I have decided that from now on any 5 that I get will have to be 35". I have big hands so the adjustment wasn't a big deal for me, but I did have to adjust and it was all worth it for the thunderous B - from a J bass!
Anyway, my fretless GAS is growing by the minute so I decided to email Roger to try to get a ballpark figure of how many fretless Lull 5's are out there for me to try and track down on the used market... Roger estimated about 5 or 6 so that pretty much told me that if I want a fretless Lull I'll have to bite the bullet and order new. Which would be great but will take a little while. LOL.

I talked to Mike today and wanted to confirm one point made above. Regarding the PLEK machine, Mike is offering the PLEK treatment at half price on all Lulls shipped before his PLEK went live (January 10, 2008 is the exact date when the PLEK went into action, if I remember correctly).
Mike wants all of his basses to have the PLEK treatment, so this half-price offer is good even if you are not the original owner of the bass. Just thought all of you Lull enthusiasts would be interested to know.

It's amazing how things have come full circle on me. I was using Rickenbackers when I started on bass and then moved to five string to accomadate the material my band at the time was playing. After numerous attempts at various fivers including Pedulla, Ken Smith, Warwick, Modulus and a few others I'm sure I've forgotten, I came across my PJ5 on-line. I made a few phone calls to Roger and Mike and bought the PJ based on their comments. I wasn't disappointed in the least.
A little later, I found my M5V and again called Roger to confirm the neck profile was similar to my PJ. Once he assured me of that,Ibought the M5V. Both basses became mainstays in the my arsenal, but there was always a desire to add something "boutiquey". That lead to Spector, MTD, Roscoe, F Bass and who knows what else. All of them are great basses, but just didn't work for me for one reason or another.
Well I've had another reawakening with the Lulls. I swapped out the OBP-3 preamp on my M5V with an Audere JZ-3 and added DR Marcus Miller strings. After a few tweaks, I've developed a nce "slap" sound and it sounds killer soloed on the bridge pickup.
The PJ5 received a set of DR LoRiders and it flat out rocks. And I swapped my gigging rig to an Aguilar DB750 with a Bergantino NV610 cabinet. That amp setup compliments the Lulls well.
Meanwhile, I have a rack of basses collecting dust. No matter what I try, nothing matched the ergonomics of the Lulls. They're simply the most comfortable basses I own.

I too want a boutique bass since the closest I've come to one was my Carvin 6 with a koa body - and that wasn't too close, haha. But I can definitely see myself with this M5V for a long time if not forever. I for one believe in always having Fender style instruments in the stable no matter what else you own and Lulls take care of that for me. So whatever bass I get next and the one after that, I eventually would like to have all of Mike's 5 strings.

Oh ya, welcome Chris!!! Man, I want one of those... If you read up on this club you'll find out quickly that we're not just Lull owners, but Lull lovers as well. As far as I can tell everyone here really loves their respective bass. I'm sure you do as well.

Great looking bass. The push/pull is most likely a mid freq select. I know on my bass it is 400/800. Do you have active/passive also with a volume push/pull?

I have the same config(well unless you don't have an aggie pre)
YOu will have volume, pan, tone, with the up position being passive mode, and then bass/treble most likly
Hmmm... yeah, I thought initially that the push/pull was active/passive, but it really didn't make any difference in the gain when switched in or out. So, perhaps there's a gain pot internal somewhere that is set low (haven't looked yet). It almost sounds like it's a mid select when switched, but turning the knob sounds more like a tone than a mid. And, it does work both passive and active, so I'm guessing it must be tone. I guess having both a tone and the bass/treble seemed slightly odd to me.

Not sure how I'd compare the 2. My 55-94 is a fantastic bass. I bought it used from another TB'er a couple years ago and it felt "right" from the moment I picked it up. I did own a 55-02 prior to that... so maybe that contributed to the familiarity. I didn't quite get that same feel from the Lull... it took me a bit to warm up to it... but it is an excellent instrument as well in every regard. Prob just needs to get broken in a bit.
Looking at them side-by-side, the profiles seem pretty similar. However, they do feel slightly different in my hand beyond the finish (the 55-94 has the tung oil finish which makes it super smooth, whereas the Lull is more of the poly satin thing). The 55-94 looks to be a touch deeper in profile and maybe just a tad rounder. At this point, the 55-94 still feels more like home to me just because that's what I'm used to... my playing time on the Lull has only been about an hour so far since I've had it (yesterday), so I'll save final judgement.
I really don't think you can go wrong with either choice.

Thanks man. Since I've got the graphite thing already I decided my next bass is going to be a solid American 5 string bass with ash/maple/birdseye fb. 55-94s and Lulls both make the short list are a great used deal as well as you already know. When I've got my money what I am really lusting over is one of those old style m5's with the deep cutaway lower horn, though.
