The most mournful melody?

Now for something different, however somewhat tied to the OP by the unmistakable presence of Bobby Fripp.

The words to this are hopeful and beautiful, but the desperate tension in this song is so palpably dysfunctional that it is a hauntingly sad song to me.

Also, I played this song a lot during a very pivotal time when I was falling hopelessly and passionately in love with someone I wish I'd never met. So there's that.

Depending on how hard you want to go, musically speaking, you might really enjoy this one. It's in my top five favorite records of all time. Maybe even at the top of that list. It has some heavy moments, but genius level performances. Chapman stick bass by the relatively obscure Trey Gunn.

That one too. I bought her tickets to go see Bonnie Raitt for her birthday, before it came around, she dumped me. Gave them to her anyway, because I simply couldn't go in the state I was then in. Had a wedding ring halfway paid off too. Ahh the perils of young love...

I remember I was in the middle of moving to my current place when it happened, I was on the middle of Route 17 through the Catskills when I heard the news come over the radio - had to pull over for a good 10 minute cry.

Yeah I am a heavy metal guy at heart, but the first time I ever saw him was on Austin City Limits show I think 83?, I wasn't even watching it, I was going to the kitchen for a drink and it first caught my ear then I saw this young guy just killing it!

I had never seen anyone play like him ever. I became an instant fan and I was lucky enough to score tickets to the Beacon theater show and he was just amazing he went from zero to 100 just like that and was flawless. I couldn't believe it when I heard on news he died he just got his stuff together and God only knows what else he had in store for us next. His is the only CD I have in my car. My Avatar says it all
