In the end it doesn't matter. If you want gigs, and want people to dance and drink, and want to get paid, you play the songs that the common bar goer wants to here. That's the way it is. Overplayed or not, those songs are what get people going.

With few exceptions the songs you all have listed will not be on our set list, however, if a $10 or a $20 makes it to Philip (Philip the Tip Jar) we will play what people ask for.

That was the first song I ever played for pay. I think I was in 8th grade. Played it with 2 of my friends at a Boy Scout banquet of some kind. We borrowed my cousins PA (he was in a very popular band that played all over the area) and had a blast. Felt really big time with that PA.

Hey guys, here's a new twist. How many times did you guys change the lyrics just to see if anyone was paying attention? And on what songs? I wish I had YouTube some of our versions.

Overplayed from whose perspective?
We do/ have done many of the songs mentioned here. From our perspective, they are overplayed.
If the paying crowd enjoys them, they are not overplayed from their perspective.
We do them because they get asked for them and we have added them. They stay in the set list if they work from the crowd's perspective.
