The Official 2012 NHL Stanely Cup Finals Thread

How am I wrong? Any posts on what Malkin had to say? Adams? Neal? Bylsma? Nope. More than a few of you have no problem bragging how much you hate Crosby, and that's fine. When you start adding your own commentary to what you think someone else said/meant, you're digging.

We've had thousands of posts in these NHL threads, and every single one of them by its very nature is about adding our own commentary on the NHL and its plays and players, including what those players have said in post-game interviews. Now it's digging? Come on. :rollno: The guy engaged in an unsportsmanlike play on the ice, and when he was asked about, he gave a response worthy of a petulant 5-year old. People don't need to look for reasons to dislike this guy.

OK, OK, clearly I failed to make my point.

What a few of the Pens did is wrong, stupid, classless, and ignorant. I already called for Asham and Neal to be suspended this series and into the next regular season. No room for what they did in this sport.

So we are clear....I am NOT defending the players in question OR their antics.

What I was trying to say was how some people hate Crosby so much, they dig up stuff about him. In particular one persons interpretation of what he thought Crosby was saying. Which led to my comment that some of you hate him so much that if he complimented your team, you'd call him condescending and a liar.

Just so we're clear on another point....I did in fact pick the Flyers to win this series while the rest of you picked the Pens. I feel it's obvious I am not a Pens homer.

I get it now. I agree with you. Crosby is not helping his case though. I would also like to point out I picked the flyers to win in 6. :)

I would have no problem with that - my two favorite teams.

I would be ok with that. Maybe send some whiskey to Carters room. Just to slow him down. He was a drink in philly and columbus. He seems to be doing better but who knows. In columbus he at one point had a 30 grand bar tab at the three legged mare.

So if we play each other I'm sending him a bottle of johnny Walker blue. lol

That's classy of you.

Or not ;)

Well, the Flyers have only been playing better for a couple years now, so I suspect the Philadelphia fans aren't used to it like they are in Pittsburgh? :)

What I don't get is why Flyer fans are hanging around Pens forums and websites? I used to post all the time on a Steelers forum, and every week we'd get guys from the other team coming around to talk crap and cause trouble. I'd hope you guys are above that. Honestly, this is the only forum I visit and post on about hockey.

-Mike

Regular visitors (some respected, some not) to the Flyers boards by fans of Pens, Devils, Leafs, Rangers, Caps, Jets, Flames...

We reciprocate. We like seeing what others say and have a little fun giving some flack back. Generally the only boards I stay away from are over at ESPN and the HF boards. Can't stand the shenanigans at those places.

Good game, lousy officiating, not saying it favored either side just lousy. The players on both teams have no idea what or when something will be called.

As far as the pressure, Detroit has won 5 cups and been to the playoffs 21 straight season, I suspect they've been down a game in a series before.:D

if YOU think that I think we are now the favorites in the series, buddy you are mistaken.

yeah, i'd rather be in our position than yours, but i'll believe Nashville is going to win this series when they actually do it...:D

any time, any place (as it were), Detroit is always a threat to win any series, and i have no illusions about the type of hockey we're gonna have to play if WE want to win it (that is, tough and d**n good hockey, not the thuggish kind that has figured so prominently in all the recent posts)

Beware, they are not nice places! Generaly why I hang out here mostly. :hiding:

+1

Either they are not mature people or they are filled with band wagon hockey fans who know nothing about the sport and just run thier mouths. The one thing I can say here is that everyone is pretty knowlegable, we all see though colored lenses for our team but still knowledgeable. And for the most part pretty calm and respectful. This has become one of my favorite ones because of those reasons. Plus it's two of my loves in one place, bass and hockey.:bassist:

What I find interesting is how people, like me, jumped all over Laviolette and Tortorella for running off at the mouth following losses, yet today everyone is mad at Crosby while his coach sat there and watched the whole meltdown without stopping it.

I'll never get it, but I would expect an apology from Bylsma and Lemeiuex for the debacle on Sunday. While I will disagree that the team is cheap shot artists and dirty players, it's definitely an embarrassing moment that won't soon be forgotten.

I'm just glad to see Philly running up the score on the heartless Pens. It's definitely different to be on this side of the Hero/Villain drama.

I like that the Flyers are getting under their skin by scoring goals in every situation; not cheap classless play. Give us a powerplay and they'll make you pay. Hell the Flyers will even score on the PK. Somethings wrong in Pittsburgh if they are giving up shorthanded goals.

I used to like Asham,...he was always a team first kinda guy in Philly, never really took any dumb penalties (that I can recall); always at the aide of his teammates...but that crosscheck to Schenn's throat proved me wrong. He's an idiot and I no longer have any respect for him.

I was hoping for better things from Crosby and had been giving him the benefit of the doubt over the past 2 season. I was wrong. He's still a punk and ***** and will always be.

Malkin couldn't hit the broadside of a barn when the playoffs come.

Pens defense is nothing without Letang. Orpik is so so but Paul Martin sucks.

That said,....this can't be a 4 games series. I feel like the Pens have at least 1 win in them.

I'm also glad to see LAK doing well against the Canuckleheads. I may have been a little emotional with my Flyers 1st comment,...I do like the Kings in the West. Is Gagne still playing for LA?

I'm tellin you'z guys....Fleury is played out. Bylsma wore him down trying to break that stupid team record for wins in a season. It didn't help having Johnson injured and such a tight race down the stretch.

But hey, Quick and Rinne played more games than Fleury and they seem to be doing fine. I also contribute it to a lack of veteran leadership. Despite all his antics, Crosby is no leader just due to the very little he has played the last two years.

I really wish we were playing tuesday night. I am off that night but also because in a fight if you have the guy against the ropes you don't let up and give him time to regroup. I'm sure the Penguins will have a calmer attitude after the NHL and the Penguins organization talks to them and has meetings. I do hope that someone gets control of this series before someone really gets hurt from something stupid.

What I was trying to say was how some people hate Crosby so much, they dig up stuff about him. In particular one persons interpretation of what he thought Crosby was saying. Which led to my comment that some of you hate him so much that if he complimented your team, you'd call him condescending and a liar.

Okay, I'm sure you're talking about me here. Guilty as charged. I did say that, but that was simply my perception of Crosby's state of mind when asked about sticking Voracek's glove away from him. Could I be certain that's what he was really thinking? Of course not. Strictly my interpretation based on his facial expressions and tone of voice when addressing the reporter. Might I be wrong? Of course. But that's how I saw it, and don't think I was far off.

And FWIW, I do not hate Crosby. Like most superstars, fans of other teams often don't like them, but do wish they were on their own team. I've always respected his abilities. I still do. He is an extremely skilled player. But I do believe his actions yesterday did not garner him a lot of respect. At least not from me. But I admit that I find it a bit refreshing that a lot of neutral parties saw a lot of yesterday's shananigans by the Pens as cheap and uncalled for. Normally everybody in the media give the opponents of the Flyers a pass for cheap hits, etc., BECAUSE they're playing the Flyers (who still think of them as the Broad Street Bullies of the '70s). Nice to see the Pens get called out once in awhile.

Does that mean people on the Flyers have never done anything cheap or embarrassing? Absolutely not. Remember, I've been a Flyers fan since the '70s, so there are a lot of incidents I'm not proud of. And I'm sure there will be more incidents in the future that I won't be proud of.

But I guess the difference is that for 40 years or so, EVERYBODY (other than Flyers fans) has hated the Flyers. That's just the way it's always been.

Anyway Mike, I hope we're cool. I've always had a lot of respect for you on these boards, and hope I haven't pissed you off too badly by adding my personal take on what Sidney was thinking while making his comments! Again, strictly my interpretation; and I HAVE been wrong before! ;)

And again, this series is not over. Last I checked, a team needs to win 4 games to advance. But if they DO finish off the Pens, I still don't see them getting past the Rangers or Bruins. Just like Philly has had the Pens number this year, the Rangers (and the Bruins to an extent) have been Kryptonite for the Flyers this year.
