The Official EBS Club

I'll take a number. I love the clean sound that EBS offers.

I'll keep this setup, (fEARless 12/6 cube,) but I just picked up a Reidmar 750 here on TB, and placed a deposit with Barefaced cabs for a Super Compact 12.

I had an original Reidmar with a fEARful 12/6/1 and loved it! With the eq shape button engaged and the mid sweep at around 250-300 it killed. I now use an older Trace head as my main head at church. If I had to haul my rig around much, I'd pick up a Reidmar again. EBS pairs great with a fEARful.

I would be VERY interested to hear your opinion on the above preamp vs Reidmar 750! I am using the EBS 1V2 (the predecessor to your preamp) myself, and am considering a Reidmar 750 for band practice, medium gigs and headphone noodling.

The tone stack on the EBS1 preamps is completely different from the one that's on the later amps. I have a pre-V2 EBS1 (which I also run into a Crown), a Drome and an HD350. The Drome and HD350 have pretty much the same tone stack, which appears to be inherited by the Reidmars as well. The EBS1 is is more flexible, but also more complex, and takes a bit of getting used to. The simplified stack on the later amps is easier to use. Both sound fabulous, at least to my ears.

I have tried, but not gigged, the modern EBS amps (350, 360, 500, 650 but not Reidmar) and they seem quite nice. While the 1V2 is a great amp, there are three things it does not do THAT well:
- Cutting low mid (200-ish) to clean up a Precision. With some creative boosting below and above, one gets a workable solution.
- Letting through the low lows on an active five stringer. HP filter is -3dB at 35 Hz.
- Boost the "sheen" range just above the high mids. There is a slight gap between highest "mid eq point" and lowest "treble eq point".

Any new EBS amp will solve that. It is just the "fabulous" thing I do not want to lose!
I can definitely see my LMII being replaced by a Reidmar 750, if it has even half the sound quality of the 1V2.

I've own a lot of amps and am looking very hard at a Reidmar 750 and 410 cl cab. I have no experience w EBS and live where I have to order and hope.
Am I on the right track for EBS?

I can not tell you what to buy, but one thing I see over and over with EBS is, that they really deliver the "demo sound" in real life.
For example, some similar amps seem great on youtube, especially on factory or shop demos, but are fairly "meh" (Warwick), hard to dial in (Fender tone stack) or gutless (SWR) in real life.
I have never seen that on any EBS amp or combo. The stuff just works, and sounds GOOD doing the job.
All IMHO...

Thanks I think my main question now is which cab to buy the 410 cl or pro. Can the CL handle the power or do I need the pro series
Handle? I do not know which one gets loudest in absolute terms, but if you push the cab so hard it sounds distorted, it will eventually fail.
That said, both these cabs will play loudly, although not with heaps of deep bass. I have not used these cabs in years, but IIRC, ProLine is typically cleaner, more open and "in your face", while Classic sounds a little "woolier", warmer, more in the style of Ampeg's sealed SVT-410HE.
For jazz, rock and more percussive playing, I would pick the ProLine. Maybe the Classic for blues?
ProLine is Made in Sweden, and from quality plywood. Very robust.

I've had the 470 (which looks to be discontinued already?) and it's pretty kick ass for the money. I liked it better than the Mesa Subway d-800, which I've also owned. The Reidmars are much more flexible in terms of tone plus an effects loop and compressor. I'd certainly purchase the 750 if I was in the market for such again.

The 470 made me rediscover the EBS tone once again and how much I loved and forgotten about it (back when I owned a HD350 years ago). Since then I purchased and modified an original Fafner and have never looked back.

-Fafner , Blue stripe. Demo model from musicstore.Broke down 1 time. minor repair.

Versatile,convincing,warm/round but not to much,musical,powerfull.
Simple intuitive layout.
Compression knob misplaced. Should be after filters, before drive.
Drive built-in(tube) absolutely wonderfull.
All you/I need in connections ins-outs-send-return.
Can be played without cab.
Love the EQ Bypass push button.

The Fafner is to me perfect and beats everyting I`ve tryed/owned(Acoustic 220,Ampeg B2R,Vox(?)Hartke 2500/3500)

-Fafner is a snake/dragon from Scandinavian Mythology - killed by Sigurd/Siegfried,refered to in Wagners "Der Ring des Nibelungen" and the 2012 Tarantino film "Django Unchained". My stepson is named Sigurd.
-Built in Sweden (Volvo ,anyone!?).
-Saw/heard/tryed first in the Celinder Bass Shop in Copenhagen ages ago.
So , 3 good reasons to buy a Fafner. (Maybe too Patriot ! )

Would like to compare it to Ampeg V4B. Anyone?

-2X12" Evolution Proline Cab. Bought used from a rich kid that would rather be a DJ! 15" is on wish list for christmas.

Pic ; My cab with not my amp.

Tried a Neo 2X10, but to "screaming" for my taste.
Sold the Billy Sheehan Signature Drive. What happened to that low-end?

Playing Doom,Metal,Stoner,Noise - ish. Lots of dirtboxes. Spector Korea bass 4str,D-G-C-F. Active.

Fafner is their best. Amazing amp.

De place...I have a proLine 311 cab for sale if interested. Will ship if necessary. It houses a 15" and 10" plus tweeter. Much more versatile than just a 15" which I've also owned. Let me know and we can chat.

I'd like a number for my HD350 FrankenCombo. It is a Carvin cab with Deltalite neos and the Carvin high frequency driver. This originally housed a GK 1001RB-II now sold. That is why there is a vent on the top. Since this is pretty new to me, I posted in the amps section for suggestions for settings. Here is the link to the post: EBS HD350 What is Your Favorite Settings? . Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Anyone have a preference on the EBS-1 preamp? First version or second? Is there really a difference?
I'm sure there is, and I'd be curious if anyone here knows off the top of their heads. The only EBS-1 I've ever heard is the one that I own, one of the first version, which I bought on TB Classifieds. I've got it in a rack with a class-D Crown power amp, as emergency backup for my HD-350. Never seen or heard another EBS-1 of either version. And I suspect that's true for most EBS-1 owners who don't live in Sweden!
