I'd like a number for my HD350 FrankenCombo. It is a Carvin cab with Deltalite neos and the Carvin high frequency driver. This originally housed a GK 1001RB-II now sold. That is why there is a vent on the top. Since this is pretty new to me, I posted in the amps section for suggestions for settings. Here is the link to the post: EBS HD350 What is Your Favorite Settings? . Any input is appreciated. Thanks!View attachment 1158595

Cool idea. Are those really Deltalites? My Deltalite II 2510s are unpainted, while yours are black, even looking rather thin in the rim, like stamped frame speakers?

Anyone have a preference on the EBS-1 preamp? First version or second? Is there really a difference?

There are three main versions, with their own exterior designs (EBS 1, EBS 1V2 and EBS 1 Classic). There might be additional potential additional versions under the hood, but probably only in terms of component/brand choise.

They are all a bit odd, especially the EQ, but once you get the hang of it, it does its thing very well.

Differences between them are mainly related to signal levels, how the level meter works and how the EQ points and Q are selected. The Classic is presumably the most user friendly, but I think I saw somewhere that the 1V2 was produced in highest numbers.
They all have an output that is a bit on the low side.

They are cast frame Eminence Deltalites that were originally from Avatar. Impressive speakers. Now that I have my EBS, I wish they were 8 or even 4 ohm instead of 16 ohms each. Still sound great, but not getting everything out of the amp. Can't complain at only $35 each. I'd like to add another 8 ohm 2 10 cab in the future.

Aha - that explains it. I have the stock version and I think it is a good speaker for bass, and the low weight is a nice added value. If anything, I strongly recommend you change the HF horn. The Selenium 304 is a much superior option (I think it is the model used by EBS) and is virtually plug and play in the baffle.

I believe Avatar got these from Genz Benz. They have a higher XMAS than the stock Deltalites, but otherwise the specs are pretty much the same. They held up well when I was running my GK 1001RB II through them. Moved some major air. The EBS is a little easier on them. So far the hf driver works fine and I had thought of changing it, but I did change the crossover to a quality one with an attenuator which was a big improvement from the crappy Carvin crossover.

Hey guys. Check it out. Upgraded signal path, new power MOSFETS, upgraded 12AX7 Prime selection tube with custom blue LED array, new trim pots, new inputs and outputs, new power switches, deep cleaned, serviced, and ready for another twenty!

Kicks some serious ass!

So I had my first experience @ a gig with an EBS amp last night, was part of the back line which was very surprising. Anyway I had a chance to plug in a mess with it a bit before the rest of my band got to the stage, soloed it sounded very nice, my normal rig is a Genz benz head with a Bergantino cab, so reasonably transparent, but the EBS struck me as being incredibly clean sounding, in a very good way, on my own I was digging it, I had to kinda guess a bit with the settings but had I had more time I think I would have gotten a hang of the controls.

Now with the full band I was left wanting for some mid range but my whole band felt the mix was really scooped so I am just writing that off to the sound guy and the room, also the combo had 12's and I usually run 10's. But overall I was impressed.

Do you happen to recall what the model of the amp? If it was a 2x12 combo it was most likely an old Gorm or Neo Gorm, but it might have been something newer.

I googled it, you are right neo gorm.
Cool. Probably very similar to my mid-size rig - EBS HD350 head with Neo 212 cab, though the separate 212 cab is larger and voiced a little deeper. The EBS front-end can be really pristine, but working the Drive and Gain controls a bit, you can get some nice grind that's a bit more subtle than the better-known Aguilar SS grind.
