I've officially had it with the knobs on my Jake. I posted a while back. I've ordered two sets of Allen keys and one single, and nothing will turn the only thing on the knob that could be a fastener. I'm just going to literally hack them off with a sawzall.

I haven't. I've never seen a knob like this before. Do they come on other basses? If not, maybe I should just message Adrian. I hate to bother him for a knob though. Never had a knob make me feel like a knob before though.
Have you given it firm pull up? I have some knobs with no set screws that grip tightly. If you protect the top of your bass with something (can't think of anything that's soft enough not to scratch but strong enough not to compress easily) and then place something on top of that to use as a base to pry from, they may pop off.
I've reefed on them real good, but I may try more drastic reefage before I go out and get the sawzall.
I was sticking Allen keys into the position marker because that's the only hole on the knob, and because I took a pic and it looked like there might a Allen head in there when I zoomed in. I'll try prying them. I don't care if I hurt the knob, but I don't want to hurt the pick guard.

I was going to suggest what @moderatelyfunky did above. A heavy guitar/bass pick on each side to pry up, perhaps (I just tried two heavy Fenders under my similar ones, albeit with set screws, and they have clearance), or maybe with the knurl of those knobs, just tightly wrapping a small microfiber cloth and pulling up would do it. Otherwise just email Adrian - he's pretty responsive on quick questions. His team got the knobs on there; they should know how to remove them!
Ok, I worked a piece of webbing under each knob and pulled hard, and doink, off it came. I'm sure I'll find a use for the $15 worth of allen wrenches I bought ;-) Thanks!

I saw you already solved the problem with rubber washers.
Another solution is to wrap a piece of cloth, like a t-shirt, between the knob and the body of the bass, and then pull it.
I do live bass looping in Ableton. I play "guitar parts" using bridge pickup only. The mute switches allow me to change the bass tone in a split second. This is a much better solution than constantly twisting the balance pot.
