I asked Mike this years ago, and he recommended boiled linseed oil, which is what I use.
Last time I spoke to Mike about what to use for fingerboard conditioning he gave me a small pot of what looked like ointment or vaseline. I have no idea what it was called.
There's a video on YouTube where Mike explains how he sets up basses before they leave the shop and the first couple of minutes cover fretboard cleaning....it shouldn't be hard to find....
Two years ago when I got my 434 with an ebony fretboard, he said I should use the Dunlop fretboard oil once a month. It has the applicator in the top.
(Back then it was straight oil. Now I see it's lemon oil so I'm not sure if he recommends the same stuff.)

Anyone have any MTDs getting finished soon? Mine should be ready in the next few weeks...getting excited!

Wow, that's such a beautiful bass! Your Red Narra top might be the nicest piece I've seen, and that double veneer really gives a nice transition to the stark contrast between the top and body. Didn't you say that you wanted a passive tone as well? Looks to me that your bass is drilled for a switch.

Thanks! Mike really hit the nail on the head with this top - I wanted something that looked unique and exotic but not too over the top. The double veneer dresses it up a bit too.
Good catch on the switch - I definitely had passive tone on the order for mine but thy 6th hole is smaller while all 6 of yours are the same size. I'll ask about it...
Edit: Got a quick reply from Mike, it's still all set for passive tone. I can't wait!

Received an email from Mike late last night, regarding my 634-24...sounds like it's in the same finishing batch as yours. No pics to share, but I'm really excited also! We've adjusted the specs a few times over the process...
