The Official Peavey Thread!!!!

T-40%201_edited.jpg
I just reclaimed my T-40. It had been sitting in storage halfway around the world for the past 3 years. Mine looks just like yours and I'm too lazy to take a picture and attach it, so I thought I'd just steal your photo. :)

I've owned 2 T-40's over the years and a fretless T-20. This T-40 will stay with me- I really do think that they're incredibly underated basses. They weigh a ton, but it's forgivable considering the range of tone that can be found in these basses.

Like I always say: The most versatile passive bass ever made. It can cop P, J, Tele, Gibson, and Rick tones with just a little work. If you dig in deeper, it does even more.

Peavey Koa Unity sans active pups
I think I paid $350. used about 10 years ago...
I put a Carvin J pup in there that I had from another bass but I may change it back to the original Peavey when I get some ambition...U can Google "Pegstone" (my one man band) if ur interested in hearing it or just bored...lotso' links LOL

Although I have been playing bass for about 30 years, I tended to switch back and forth between bass or guitar in different bands. Lately I've spiritually returned 2 bass w/ renewed interest.

Peavey's Rock!

My "GO TO" bass is a Rudy Sarzo signature model. Neck through construction, 24 frets of the smoothest playing neck I've ever played, and a spectrum of tones that I find amazing. For 5-String duties I have a Peavey G-V, featuring a graphite neck, 18-Volt electronics, and a Black-Sparkle finish that changes the sparkle color depending on the angle of the light. For "Beater" duties I have a foundation body with a Patriot neck, sporting a Maple finger board. I was originally going to smash this FrankenBass at a show, but the $75 collection of Meridian's finest vintage pieces has found a special place in my heart, and It is among my favorite players.

I typically use SWR gear, but my first amp was a TNT 100, and I still have a MASSIVE 1820 cabinet that I play through when I need to move some Serious Air.

If I ever figure how to upload pictures, I'll post my humble collection.

I have an RJ 4 VERY similar to this.......

I picked up an old Peavey Foundation on New Year's Eve on a whim. After I got out the store, I had serious buyer's remorse because I really didn't need another fretted five. Today, I put on some Rotosound nickel wound lightgauge strings (fast becoming my favorites) and I was simply blown away. The action is low, but buzz free. The neck is super comfortable, the string spacing is about 18mm. The fret edges are a bit sharp, but every thing else about this bass is super solid.

What is really great is that this bass has a pretty modern sound with an emphasis on the midrange. It has the soapbar looking pickups, instead of the older Superferrite single coils. I guess it sounds a bit like a Paladeium, except this bass has a nice Cirrus sort of slap tone, which is pretty cool for a passive bass.

I knew this was a solid bass, but I am shocked at the sound it makes! It is going to be very easy not to get another fretted bass this year.

I picked up a Millenium BXP 4 string last weekend. I can't believe this bass is only 200 bucks!

Lightweight, excellent sounding pickups, and no neck dive-makes playing with a pick so much easier.

It has become my main bass now. I absolutely love it! :hyper:

I have no basses by Peavey, though a custom fretless Cirrus is in my future plans. I have plenty of other peavey gear though:

My main rig is a Peavey Firebass 700 II which drives Peavey 810TVX and Peavey 215D-BW cabs.

My backup rig is a 1978 Peavey Mark III Bass head driving an Ampeg PR-1528HE cab:

And my little practice amp that sits behind my recliner upstairs for random practicing (and annoying my wife) is a Peavey Basic 60 (OLD picture):

Uh, how do you like it? I mean, the onboard eq has... well... so few knobs... :hmm:

I have not read this thread in a while so I'm responding to a post that is over a month old. Sorry about that.

I like it. It has worked well and got me through several gigs.

As for the EQ. It has a high freq. and low freq. shelving EQ that gives a +15db or -15db of boost or cut and a 7 band graphic EQ w/15db of boost/cut on the frequencies in between. It's very easy to use and dial in a decent tone. I'm pretty happy with it. It's easier to use than the EQ on my BBE BMAX. I normaly use it with a Sansamp BDDI running in the effects loop so the Sansamp ads a lot to the tone as well. Lately I have been using it without the Sansamp because it's in my office right now and my pedal board is with my BBE/Avatar rig at church. I'm really kinda liking the way it sounds without any outboard coloration.

Here is an updated picture with my MIM Jazz Bass.

My first bass I got was a Peavey Milstone III and I still have it and play it all the time. I'm getting some buzz sound out of it because of a bad ground or something where the cord plugs in. The amp I have is a Peavey Minx 110. Good little practice amp, I need to get something bigger though.

Peavey rocks........I have two USA peaveys that I really like

a T-45 heavy as lead, you would have to try to destroy this thing (and it sounds good too)

also a 4 string axcelerator is a real "sleeper" when it comes to tone
