The Official Peavey Thread!!!!

I scored a 1993 Foundation recently on Ebay. The bass and case are in MINT condition! It was literally kept in a closet for 13 years.

It looks and sounds amazing.

A little off topic; if anyone has a spare 'torsion rod wrench' for the foundation, I'll buy it from you. They are $5 from Peavey, but are out of stock. If anyone can help, name your price and PM me.

Regards,

Mike

You know.............I like Cirrus basses, but I wish Peavey, would go back to surprising us, with great basses.

Like the Bromberg bass. The Sarzo bass

Dont yall miss that ?

True that! I still love my B-quads... I bought a brandy wine colored B-quad 4 fretted brand new back in... what was that... '94? Still have it. I picked up a dead mint black B-quad 5 frettless (apparently around 25 of these made, if my source from Peavey was correct...)off ebay a couple years ago, and it is still pretty much perfect. Doesn't get much use, as I'm not a fretless person, but I've been looking for one for about 9 years! Imposible to find. The more I think about it, it appears I'm a bit of a peavey fanboy. Started out on a foundation 4 and a TKO 80. Moved to the B-quad and a markVIII head with 115BW and 410TX cabs. Played those for 10 years before passing them on to my brother in law in favor of something easier on my back (Mesa walkabout scout combo). I'm still looking for a fretted B-quad 5... anyone wanna trade for the frtless? :) My collection also includes an Alembic epic 5 and an Ibanez BTB prestige 6. Good times! Now maybe to add a Cirus to the mix...

Right, I've brought this up a few times on TB but this Peavey broke my heart.
I got it a good few years ago (about 5 maybe), it was the first bass I had bought myself and to this day I have never played a bass that felt better. I'm not really sure what model it is exactly. At one point I identified it as a dynabass but it doesn't actually say anything like that on the bass itself, all it says on the headstock is Peavey International Series, which doesn't appear on the Peavey website (they might be ashamed of this bass :D) The body shape, it's balance, the neck are absolutely perfect for me (that might be because I got it when I had only been playing about two or three years). It's really solid and has a lovely tone. The only problem is, it's the quietest bass I've ever played. It was impossible to play at gigs, soundmen would get confused when, after setting up the other band, I would plug my bass in and he'd wonder where the bass had suddenly gone in the mix.
As a temporary solution I swapped one pickup from my brother's defretted Westone, with the housing the pickup was too big but when removed it fit much better so I just wrapped it in electrical tape to keep the whole pickup together :D :D you can see it in the pic. It actually worked and it got a bit louder but not a whole lot.
Anyway, at the time I had no money to get whole new electronics and now that I'm not in a band it seems like a bit of a waste of money. I might do it though. I don't really know enough about different brands of pickups and electronics to know what's best for me.

I have had the Peavey cabinet on the bottom of this stack for 12 or 15 years. It is actually a keyboard cab with two 18 inch Black Widow speakers
side mounted inside of the cab, and 10 inch ports on the front.

That thing never farts-out, regardless of wattage, and gives my five string amazing rumble.

If I use it these days, I usually Bi-amp with my SVT4 Pro, of course sending the lows to the Peavey.

The down side, it weighs more than my SVT 8x10 cabinet, substantially more....

I have a FoundationV, and a FoundationIV,both in red, plus an older Foundation, in white. These old American made basses are fantastic players. I bought the first one after reading a review on Harmony Central, where the guy said his FoundationV, played every bit as good as his Lakland. Couldn't afford a Lakland, so I bought one of these. Liked it so much, that I went and picked up the two 4 stringers. Sold off all my other basses now. I'm hooked on Peavey now.
