I changed it to LaBella Gold Flats. Much better than Fender rounds and it ads "Russian Oligarch" effect.

As in the Romanoffs? Didn't know LaBella offered such - and flats no less! I've used the Optima gold-coated RW strings from Germany which are nice.

I am loving my new ‘54 P. I added a foam mute under the bridge cover and thumps great. Very light for a slab bass and a baseball bat neck.

Cool So is it an early 1954 with a replacement pg & new mounting screws? From what I've read later 54's had contoured edges and some had a white pg.

About mid ‘54 they started contouring the bodies and you can find examples with black and a few with white pick guards. Not many of the screws are original. On this one the pu, bridge, pickguard, one pot, and most screws are long gone. It’s a player and pretty light.

Yah, Fender introduce production changes in January and July.

Nice! You can always spot a fretno bass by the One knob

Or even a rounding bit and then manually take care of the corners.

Couple if cheap squire jbass and jazz bass. Nothing fancy but we play every night.

Mine is the red one and my brother is playing his.

So I ended up at the Cherry Hill GC and I sort of well yeah I came home with a '71 fender jazz bass. She is a refinish but feels so nice and has the original case, pots, truss rod is good. Now here is the kicker, and a bit blown away by this date codes on the pots are 16 th week of April 1971. The same week I was born.
