My latest addition. For the first time in 8 years, I've got a 4-string once again

IKR? I'd never played flats before. This bass walks the line between P and J beautifully, and I'm going to put flats in my basses from now on!
Yeah, it's great! You can do a standard P sound by rolling the bridge pickup volume off, or get a substantial growl with the bridge pickup alone, or mix for a beefy, spicy bully of a tone!
You can find these basses on ebay or reverb some. I might have to get a blacktop precision (which has two humbuckers) when I get my next bonus check.
I was listening to the tones that can voiced from a blacktop the other day, might have put one of them on my wish list.
Presently I'm thinking about a Squier Jaguar with the single HB down by the bridge like a Stingray (also on my list) which is for sale in my area. He wants 2 Bills.

A Squier Jaguar with a bridge HB? That could be interesting.
Officially know as a Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar Special HB made somewhere in the 2012 era. I did a search and stumbled upon a recording of it. Cool sound.
I couldn’t be more pleased with the Bronco.
Honestly stock @ $150 it isn’t the worst as is but I’m blown away by just how much better this guitar became in an instant.
I now wish to find a red Bronco (I’m not capable of repainting a body yet) and I wish to upgrade it as well but going for a different sound. So I need to do a ton of research to figure out what pups/bridge/tuners/cap/etc are best for “X” sound or “B” sound.
Past all of that, I have to say I was just blown away by the Bronco Bass in terms of being a lightweight short scale that didn’t need to feel like a toy.
I have to believe I will one day have zero issues with the standard bass; this 30” length is a sweet spot and you will surely love one of these yourself.
If so I’d love to follow along as you upgrade yours and I work on another.

"Somebody makes me an offer I can't refuse..."(using my best godfather voice) I would put a Bronco in my stable. I used to have an Epiphone EBO and kinda like short scale basses.
Put Boomers 45-105 on the pj which made a huge difference. I put Precision Flats 55-105
on the jazz and fell in love. Got these strings at the store here since it supports this site.
The pj is trebly with good bottom so my pickup choice will be one that fills in the mids. Listening to recordings my ear likes them Yosemites Fender makes. They can be bought at decent prices. The pots will become either linear or degreed taper. I don't care much for audio pots.
The jazz has a really nice mellow tone totally enhanced by the flats. I'm looking to a pickup which will enhance this sound.
I am. Apparently the Jag SS comes out of the Cort factory. Same place as my 2001 Squier Jazz and two 1980s Hohner headless basses. In short the big manufacturers trust Cort to make their overseas models without damaging their reputations and to do this Cort learned how to make consistently good guitars many decades ago.
I'm not saying they are the Fender custom shop, but guitars made by Cort are rarely lemons.
I am quite inclined to agree with you. For the price they are impressive. Smart move on Fender's part. Whether I was to buy one to four top line basses or a dozen bottom end basses their bills will be paid.
Plus....do the math and see how much moola is left over to be combined with the money that would have been needed with the elite basses to buy earth quaking, soul shaking, innard massaging stacks and amps. Maybe dinner for the ol' lady cause, well, she might be a wee bit pissed.
