The official "Show your basses" thread part 19!

o_O

Sorry if anyone finds this gross, but I once saw an interview of Geddy Lee and Les Claypool where they were theorizing that bass frequencies increase sperm count (lol why do I remember such things?)... If that were the case, Edbo could repopulate the earth in a year if there was a major disaster....

I hope that's not necessary, I already have 4 Raised and I'm loving life ;):bassist:;).

Here's my youngest working on his sperm count.

Finally got them all out for a family portrait. 18 of 21 anyway. My Schecter Michael Anthony is in Pawn, my Squier 50's Classic Vibe P is apart for re-fin and I forgot to get my Kramer Duke Bass out of it's case. I certainly feel Blessed.

Man, if you can't find a sound you like out of that you need a new hobby.

Gotta' have empathy for the lefties - but.., at the same time there's more to be considered for custom builders... (shameless plug!) ;) Seriously, isn't that why a lot of lefties switch-hit on commonly available (righty oriented) kit? I know it's a struggle (one of my sisters is a lefty) but I always felt lefties had an advantage (in a way) because many times they became ambidextrous right? Is this still true? To me that's huge - like being versed in another language.

it’s true. I’m lefty and I’ve learned to play stuff upside down. Whenever I go to GC with my friends and start playing stuff upside down on the guitars or basses people are genuinely impressed by it. It’s literally because we’re forced to lol

My best friend is a left handed guitarist and he plays right handed so he has this AMAZING fingerboard technique, but took a lot more work to get his picking down...

Honestly, I think playing with your dominant hand on the neck makes a lot of sense... Just dunno if I could untrain myself...

You would think I could whittle it down to 6 or 8 of my favorite and let the others go out of redundancy but, I can't even pick out the 1st one to sale. I've spent a lot with each one, modding and tweaking them to sound and play the best they can be, for me. Each has it's own character and voice. I have all the sounds I need/want.

Thanks to the guys over on the "Bass Hoarding Personality Disorder (BHPD)" thread I'm not stressed about it and I'm not really Jones'in for any Bass , at least this week anyway. I'm always keeping an eye out for deals though. **Peace**

to be honest I’m actually right handed but that’s the logic I went off of; just made more sense to use my dominant hand on the fretboard.

People find me incredibly useful too whenever they need someone on the bass or guitar last minute because of my ability to play upside down.

can’t say the same for my right handed band mates!

yeah, I've flipped over a leftie Hofner in the music store a few times and found it wasnt nearly as hard as I thought it would be to get the hang of it

How long should I boil my strings for? I have some Earnie ball reg slinky's that sound off. and some Dunlop Trujillo strings I have had for nearly a year, they are starting to rust what should I do?

Buy a set of D'addario XL strings .... $15 .... and your bass will sound like a billion dollars, especially after using year old strings. Forget the boil, if you can afford it of course.

Wow!!
I’ve been wondering where I could drop these pictures in, and have it make sense...in context.

We went to see a Beatles’ tribute band that turned out to have a broader setlist...Kinks, Yardbirds, Who, Stones. It was good fun!!

The bassist played the Hofner for Every Beatles’ song...

...and his Jazz Bass for all the others.

I was gobsmacked. :woot:
