Hey, did you see a Skjold Custom 5 for sale on bassgear.com?
The model with the cherry body, bloodwood fingerboard, Skjold electronics. I've seen pics of it on Pete's myspace page.

Actually, I don't even have it yet -- it's at Pete's. I'm supposed to pick it up sometime next week after Christmas. Convenient that I'll be at Pete's soon, he's starting a new batch in a few weeks, and my wife has asked me what I want for our 15th anniversary present in June. Which should correspond to about the time the next batch gets finished. Hmmm....I smell a Whale Cut!
When I get it, I'll certainly post my impressions, but I doubt I'll post gig experiences, at least until sometime late winter/early spring. Right now, all I'm doing is VFW gigs, and I'll be danged if I'll take it there. That would be like taking a Ferrari to a mud-running contest.
I may have to, though. I haven't had any gig action shots taken in a long time.

You are gonna love that bass, dcr! If that is the bass I think it is, I debated between that top and the fiddleback mahogany top that ended up going on my EC4.

For the record, I'm waiting for people to explicitly request a number... easier for me to keep track of... I'm loosely managing this in the thread, but if we start to gain real mass, I'll probably do it more officially offline.
Well, how about this.....since my 15th anniversary is coming up and I'm gonna talk to Pete about building me Custom/Exotic Custom Whaleback as an anniversary present to me , I'll trade Smallequestrian for the #15. Kind of a lucky number for me thang! Besides, he was before me!

This bass has a lineage here on TB. Ultimately it found it's way from VifferMike to me. The only way I can describe it is with a four-letter expletive beginning with the letter "f" ! I'm now G.A.S.ing big time for a 5 and one thing is certain...I WILL own one next year .

I'm the one that put that Delano pickup in there (which I got from Pete), and it really improved the tone over the original (somewhat generic sounding) Kent Armstrong. 
Yeah, Pete made it up for the bass and sent it to Tom, who fwd'd it to me, and I installed it. It's made of Mac Ebony, but is not permanently mounted. Just some strong double stick tape.
