Sold it -- past tense. It's mine, HA HA HA! Count me in as an official member of the club! :bassist:

DCR,
I paid a visit to Pete yesterday to pick out a myrtle top for my Lion's Pride. I hope you don't mind, but I tried your bass for a bit. All I can say is....
I told Pete, "This bass is IT! THIS is the sound I'm after!" So now, I'm back to contemplating a pau ferro or bloodwood fingerboard - partly because of how AWESOME your bass sounds and plays!

You will love your new acquisition!:bassist:

You know, I don't know whether to hate you or pity you. ;)

On the one hand, I hate you for being able to go to Pete's shop so easily... on the other hand, I also know what would happen to me financially if I could, and if the same is true for you, then pity you... on the other hand... NO! There is no other hand!... TRADITION! ...oh, sorry, FOTR flashback there... got a little dizzy thinkin' about new Skjolds... :D :D :D :D

P.S. Sorry for the goofy post, call it holiday spirit... :D

BAH! HUMBUG! Are there no Hondo II's? Are there no Applause's????

So Basso...this is what, wood and fingerboard combination #17 for your LP? You do realize that eventually Pete's going to start cutting and building this baby and then your choices will be somewhat "limited". :)

And Vic, easy on the Eggnog brother...easy.

I was out at Pete's shop on Friday as well. I went over a few new top woods that Pete has and let me tell you all...
Pete is logistically set up for this next batch like he's about to conduct a landing at Normandy.
Woods are prepped, book matched, tagged and sorted. Tools and jigs and set up, double checked, sharpened and ready to rock.
The shop is a completely different place than I remember last year. I think these next batches are going to go smooth as silk!

Merry Christmas to the members of the Skjold family!

Ha Matt! You have me figured out, man! Actually it's the 17th time I've revisited the same 2 fingerboard combinations!:D I'm very pleased with my body and top wood decisions -- That part is done. It's just that playing dcr's bass tipped my cart once again on fingerboards! His sounded SO good! But the Pau ferro sounds good too!

...And Vic...don't hate me. Pity me. I contemplate my precarious financial state everytime I head over to Pete's. I only have so much blood plasma to donate!:rollno:

Unfortunately, I won't be going to Pete's shop to pick it up this week. Everyone here is either sick, getting over it, or getting in line to get sick. Family first, ya know? So I'll have to make other arrangements. I figure I'll have it shipped and get it by Thursday.

Glad you like it...wish I'd played it:bawl:

Tommy,
Congrats on the new addition to the family...and the new Skjold number!

I CANNOT BELIEVE that the seller let go of that bass -- especially so quickly. I played that bass before it was shipped out. Absolutely unbelievable - magical as Vic said. As a bass, this one feels like you're driving a Porshe. Totally responsive, even, clean, and very slick!

Tommy - you definitely scored!:bassist:

Ahhh, yes... the bass that finally did me in way back when... :) So tell me... is yours as completely and totally magical as mine is? What does it weigh?

Extremely magical. The most responsive bass I've ever played. It weighs less than 8lbs. It's very balanced on my shoulder (no neck-dive) and has the most comfortable neck with incredibly low action. Pete delivered it to me with with 5/64ths height on the low side and 4/64 on the treble side at the 12th fret but I've since lowered it a tad and it just plays amazingly well with no buzzing.

Pete's making me another with an ash body/padauk top and maple neck that I'm looking forward to greatly. I wish he'd get those !@#$ pictures updated. :D
