It plays perfectly. The neck is exactly what I wanted - I especially like the wenge strip down the middle. You can really feel it with your thumb and it makes for the perfect anchor. The action is really low and comfortable. You can play it with almost no effort - but it stands up to digging in as well.
Sound wise, I could ask for more. Its very versatile and will cover a wide range of spectrums. To top it off, it has a kick ass passive tone too.
I can't put it down, Ive played more this weekend than in the last two months combined lol.

I meant to comment on the White Wenge strip... that is killer.
Oh, and yeah, all you said? That's just "a Skjold thing" and to be expected. (yes, this is me coining another catch-phrase).

Allow me to say once again, after a few months' time to get to know her, what a great instrument this is. I am continually impressed by the quality of the build and the tone. It's as good of an instrument as I have ever played, with its own distinct personality making it a little different from all the others. Thanks again.

Absolutely awesome, congrats.
In addition to having that stunning instrument, allow me to nominate you for the "Most Patience Award".
I have had eight basses come through my hands via buying selling or trading, while waiting on my two Skjold's. So now I believe I can hold on, I have my 5 bass rule, whenever I get over that basses seem to get neglected. So a couple of MTD's a Sadowsky and two Skjold's should just about do it for me.

Its easy to be patient when your able to be at the shop every week or two and get to play with everyone else's toys as they are completed. I imagine if I was far away and disconected from the process I might not have been as patient. However, if I were far away, I wouldnt have had the opportunities Ive had with Pete that allowed me to have such a nice instrument in the first place
Besides, its well worth the wait, and even at 14 months, is quite a bit less than many other builders for a one of a kind instrument.
I am going to experiment with a set of Half-Rounds on my Skjold. I am normally a roundwound zingy-bright guy to the core, but this bass has brightness to spare, so I think I can get away with dialing back on the string choice a bit in order to take advantage of some of the tonal characteristics that the half-rounds may offer. I may go right back to nickel rounds, but I can see no way to find out other than to try.
(Plus, Patitucci is playing them now, and with the "Line By Line" CD I have finally come to like the tone he gets with them.)

I tell you what, I am liking my bass so much that I really am contemplating selling my others. I have to purposely make myself play my other basses right now.

This is my first thread foray on TB and I'm tickled "spanish cedar" to do it here. As a result of reaching a milestone B'day that I'm celebrating and literally feeling the enthusiasm about these basses ooze off' the screen every time I surf TB, I've decided to treat my self to the Skjold experience(you only live once- in this body...?) by giving JZucker's Skjold Spanish Cedar 6'er a new home.lt is enroute as you read.
I hope I'm not disapointed as I wait with baited breath and yearning fingers. -especially with the hype you guys have given these basses.

You would be SCM #20, my friend, and when you get that bass, I can't imagine you being anything but elated.
Do you know anything about the preamp? There's a LOT going on there. Here in this post I try to cover it briefly but effectively...
